>> INSIDER WIRE —Despite reports to the contrary, Emma Cook is not shuttering her label. Instead of showing in February, she had "a really big, long, hard think" and "decided to focus on making my clothes more affordable from now on. I spent the season working out ways to halve my retail prices, working with new suppliers, things like that, and dropping the show." >> INSIDER WIRE —More victims of the recession have emerged — apparently London designer Emma Cook, whose boots for Topshop have created a frenzy in their own right, is discontinuing her line next Fall, and Veronique Branquinho is closing her 11-year-old fashion house due to a sharp drop in Fall 2009 orders and a number of canceled orders and non-payments for Spring 2009.  It sounds like the latter will be devoting her time to her new artistic directorship at Belgian leather goods brand Delvaux.

Emma Cook For Topshop Necklace Dress: Love It or Hate It?

Some of Hollywood's best have been spotted wearing Givenchy's Goth-inspired dress, so it comes as no surprise to see a cheaper rendition from one our favorite retailers.

Some of Hollywood's best have been spotted wearing Givenchy's Goth-inspired dress, so it comes as no surprise to see a cheaper rendition from one our favorite retailers. This Emma Cook for Topshop Necklace Dress ($230) is similar to Givenchy's version, but looks more homemade than Goth. The soft baubles add a whimsical touch to the sewn-on chains and I fancy the rivets. You tell me, love it or leave it?
