New York Fashion Week Trend: Would You Wear a Dress Over Pants?

While sweet sundresses have their place on the Spring 2012 runways, another way to wear breezy frocks has emerged.

While sweet sundresses have their place on the Spring 2012 runways, another way to wear breezy frocks has emerged. Dresses are getting some sportier styling, layered over flowy pants, slick leather pants, and everything in between. We spotted the looks at Rag & Bone, Victoria Beckham, and Helmut Lang — and we have to say, we're not afraid to try it. Tell us, what do you think of dresses over pants — would you rock the trend?

Love It or Leave It: Sarah Jessica Parker's Red Caped Look

Sarah Jessica Parker donned a red Giambattista Valli gown and cape for an appearance in Russia for the upcoming flick I Don't Know How She Does It.

Sarah Jessica Parker donned a red Giambattista Valli gown and cape for an appearance in Russia for the upcoming flick I Don't Know How She Does It. The impactful look was stunning when it strode down the runway at Paris Haute Couture Week, but in real life we feel the cape can become a distraction from the gown. We always trust SJP to give us some style moment worth talking about over the water cooler — what do you think of this one?

The Sexy Schoolgirl Trend: Love It or Leave It?

Fall's prim and proper theme has a deliciously subversive undercurrent; lurking under the Peter Pan collar blouses and sock-filled loafers is one sexy bombshell waiting to come out.

Fall's prim and proper theme has a deliciously subversive undercurrent; lurking under the Peter Pan collar blouses and sock-filled loafers is one sexy bombshell waiting to come out. Case in point: Gisele playing the rebellious schoolgirl in i-D mag and Mila Kunis embracing a sex kitten vibe for Glamour UK. It's fun to see the theme played out in the pages of a fashion mag, but little skirts, socks, loafers, and bedroom eyes might be tougher to pull off in real life. Will you wear the trend this Fall?

Love It or Leave It: Rachel Roy Wears Pajamas to a Movie Premiere

Well, we never thought we would actually see this.

Well, we never thought we would actually see this. Yes, we saw pajamas as a rising trend for resort — the resort collections of Louis Vuitton and Celine are proof — and yes, we picked menswear pajamas as our August must have, but seeing them worn in public as a complete outfit has taken us aback. Designer Rachel Roy chose menswear pajamas, accessorized with a brown leather clutch and dressy heels, for the One Day premiere in New York. We love the idea of styling the top or the bottoms with something a little less loungy, but the whole outfit seems a bit much. What's your take?

These ladies may be known for making sophisticated, polished red-carpet appearances, but this past weekend both went for frothy, girly dresses complete with bows. Kristin Davis wore an Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2011 pink chiffon dress with a velvet bow to the Genesis Awards in California, while Kate Winslet chose a Max Chaoul white dress with black bow for the Cardboard Citizens fundraiser dinner in London — at which she donated the dress to charity! Both dresses have a flirty, girly appeal, the question is which one do you like better?

Black Swan vs. White Swan: Whose Look Do You Love?

In an epic battle of good vs. evil .

In an epic battle of good vs. evil . . . just kidding. Blake Lively and Diane Kruger were both spotted in ethereal, appliqued Chanel dresses that called to mind the ballet costumes of Oscar-nominated flick Black Swan. Blake looks innocent and floaty in her white metallic dress, complete with silk chiffon floral applique, decadent Lorraine Schwartz jewels and ballet-inspired Christian Louboutin pumps. Diane went for dark beauty in her floaty layers of black tulle embroidered with spindly gold. Which Chanel-clothed swan do you love?

Love It or Hate It: Julia Restoin-Roitfeld in Black Lace

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld seems to have inherited her mother's taste for stylish provocation.

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld seems to have inherited her mother's taste for stylish provocation. At Another Magazine's party celebrating London Fashion Week, Julia chose a lace-paneled black dress that was half-sheath, half-negligee, giving a major peek of skin — and nude string underwear. Is this provocative fashion at its best or over-exposed fashion folly?
