You've Seen How They Design — Now See How They Dress!

Fashion designers obviously have a sharp sense of style — or else they wouldn't be able to produce such beautiful pieces.
Stylish Fashion Designers

Fashion designers obviously have a sharp sense of style — or else they wouldn't be able to produce such beautiful pieces. But some put forth more effort than others. Like every time I see bag guru Rebecca Minkoff out at an event, she looks put-together and edgy. Or whenever Chloe's designer Hannah MacGibbon comes out at the end of her runway shows, she stuns us with her polished chic looks. There are plenty of other lady designers — Georgina Chapman, Cynthia Rowley, and Vanessa Bruno, to name a few — that dress as impeccably as they design. You've seen their designs; now get to know their personal style!

Fabcons: The Traina Three

Samantha, Victoria, Vanessa. There are more Trainas, but these are The Traina Three.

Samantha, Victoria, Vanessa. There are more Trainas, but these are The Traina Three. All of them, children of novelist Danielle Steel and vintner John Traina, are under the radar but oh so Fab. Many a fashion junkie who grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area is secretly obsessed with the elusive sisters. They are socialites, yes, but they aren't camera-loving princesses.

All three work in fashion. Samantha, the brunette who resides in LA, serves as fashion editor of C magazine. Her style is feminine with a cool edge. Victoria, with the bangs, worked at the Lacroix atelier last Summer. She has a fondness for hair play and appreciates texture and eclecticism. Vanessa, the tall one, currently works at Vogue Paris; she is the most model-like, wears lots of Paris black, and has a total nonchalant attitude. With friends like Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and Lazaro and Jack of Proenza Schouler, the TTT clearly played in the coolest sandbox in town. It's too bad they all fled San Francisco — we could use some of their chic, forward thinking here.

'Cause she's just a girl .
No Doubt's Gwen Stefani's Looks Throughout the Years

'Cause she's just a girl . . . Can you believe Gwen's been in the music biz over 15 years? Her music, her style, her swagger — Gwen has everything a girl needs. In fact, she's the reason I started wearing beater tanks circa '95. We all know her music is dope, so I'm going to focus on her style. Her fashion sense is undoubtedly cool, that's why she created L.A.M.B, but let's dig deeper. When Gwen first hit the big time in 1995, she was wearing eccentric rock and punk ensembles — complete with blue hair and crazy braids. Over the years, she's kept her tomboy style but has fine-tuned it to emote a more glamorous rock vibe. I can't wait to see No Doubt in concert (again) this Summer! Fabcon: The Like

Have you heard of the all-girl LA rock band The Like?

Have you heard of the all-girl LA rock band The Like? Not only are they talented — they were aged 15, 15, and 16 when they started in 2001 — but they also have mad style. Elizabeth "Z" Berg (right) is the vocalist and guitarist; Charlotte Froom (left) is on bass and vocals; and Tennessee Thomas (center) plays the drums. Separately their styles are super funky, but together it's a fusion of rock 'n roll and vintage. Not everyone's cup of tea, but I give them credit for doing their own thing. They're never ones to shy away from trends and I can't imagine them ever shopping at a chain store. A vintage-shopping spree with these chicks would be a cool time for sure.

Fabcon: Lady Gaga

Ever since Lady Gaga — born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta — burst on the scene, there's been a refreshing air circulating the music world.

Ever since Lady Gaga — born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta — burst on the scene, there's been a refreshing air circulating the music world. She's the Grace Jones of our time, with her dynamic over-the-top costumes that she seems to never take off! She may be too gaudy for many, but this is music people, and music is supposed to be funky and theatrical.

I first learned of the 23-year-old New York native during an episode of The Hills when Whitney and Lauren were asked to style her performance in LA. She even had a wardrobe malfunction backstage and the girls came to her rescue. Ever since, I can't stop staring at her bold fashions, following her obsession with sunglasses, and singing Just Dance. She's so rad, she's even inspired other stars (i.e. Christina Aguilera and Nicole Richie).

Fabcon: Charlotte Casiraghi

Once upon a time, I caught a documentary about Princess Caroline of Monaco and her family.

Once upon a time, I caught a documentary about Princess Caroline of Monaco and her family. From that day forth, I have kept her stylish and poised daughter, Charlotte Casiraghi, on my radar. Considering her connections, Charlotte doesn't come around as often as other socials; it's a royal treat when she does.

The 22-year-old recently showed up at Paris Fashion Week and sometimes attends parties of famous friends like Karl Lagerfeld and Christian Louboutin. What I admire about her fashion sense is it's understated but never blah. She's partial to solids and black, but always keeps it interesting with funky tights, scarves, bold coats, and bags.

Fabcon: Camilla Al-Fayed

Imagine being the daughter of the owner of Harrods department store.

Imagine being the daughter of the owner of Harrods department store. Camilla Al-Fayed doesn't have to imagine it; she is it. And yes, she's the half-sister of the late Dodi Al-Fayed, Princess Diana's boyfriend.

The Egyptian beauty is close friends with another gorgeous socialite, Dasha Zhukova, and can be seen with her at all major fashion soirees. From the look of her luxe outfits, one of her favorite colors is black. Can you blame her? The 24-year-old also occasionally likes to throw in pops of bright colors like cobalt and hot pink. Having money often means always wearing designer, but that's not why Camilla stands out. She's always polished, head to toe, and knows how to wear pieces that flatter her womanly figure. Plus, among a sea of blond socialites, it's refreshing to see a brunette beauty.

Fabcon: Ivanka Trump

Ivanka. With a name like that you have to have presence.

Ivanka. With a name like that you have to have presence. I can attest to the fact that Ivanka does. I met her, years ago, when she was modeling. I was in college dressing shows backstage at a Fashion Week. She went to the University of Pennsylvania with a best friend of mine. I dropped my friend's name and she knew her. We then chatted about life, fashion — you know, the good stuff. She was sweet and she was gorgeous. It's been fun seeing her progress after our chance meeting.

Not only does this girl have style, she has a genuine interest in business. She is learning the ropes of her father's real estate world and she launched her own high-end jewelry collection (which she wears all the time). She's smart and pretty — an envious combination. Oh, and did I mention she has legs for days?

Her style is classic, yes. But she isn't afraid to mix things up with color and by showing a little skin. From crisp coats to goddess gowns, she always looks calm and collected. She may be a daddy's girl, but she has emerged from papa Trump's shadow and is creating an empire all her own.

Fabcon: Rosamund Pike

Rosamund Pike — what a grand name.

Rosamund Pike — what a grand name. This British actress, best known for playing a Bond villain in Die Another Day and Jane Bennet in Pride and Prejudice, has a fashion sense as unique as her name. Without fail, every time I see a photo of her at an event, I get wardrobe envy. She has a natural ability to wear the simplest of clothes, yet she makes them look extra special. I gather it's because she always adds a memorable piece, be it colorful shoes, a velvet shrug, a vintage belt, or a huge cocktail ring. The result is bold but never extreme. Think of her as the master of simultaneously looking daring and tame.

Off topic, but doesn't she sort of resemble actress Jenna Elfman?
