Coming Soon: Youngblood Fall Sommelier Collection

Last week, I introduced you to a fabulous new brand of mineral based makeup called Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics.

Last week, I introduced you to a fabulous new brand of mineral based makeup called Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics. Since I've just gotten a sneak peek at its new Fall Sommelier Collection that is due out sometime in mid-September, I thought I'd share it with you. The products are inspired by the lush green and grape-filled vineyards of California. The colors are richly pigmented blushes and burgundies which we know are trendy for Autumn. The three mineral-based items in the line are

  • Pressed Mineral Eyeshadow Quad in Vintage ($35.95), a luminous eye shadow palette containing four shades reminiscent of wine: blush, syrah, merlot and bordeaux.
  • Pressed Mineral Blush in Zin ($21.50) is a spicy, dusty winey-mauvey powder blush to be used on your cheeks and temples to create a warming effect.
  • Lipstick in Cuvee ($16) is a deep pink-brown that feels luxuriously creamy.

I love fall colors, especially when they look good on a variety of women (as these do). A toast to Youngblood, I say.

New Product Alert: Bobbi Brown Metallics Collection

Bobbi Brown has just released another limited-edition product for fall 2007 in bold metallic colors.

Bobbi Brown has just released another limited-edition product for fall 2007 in bold metallic colors. The line, appropriately named The Metallics Collection, consists of four velvety-soft, highly pigmented shimmer eye shadow palettes in Midnight (blues), Forest (greens), Velvet Plum (purples) and Burnt Sugar (neutrals). Each palette ($45) contains three complementary shadows intended to highlight and accentuate your eyes.

The shadows are easily blendable, long-wearing and will stay crease-free all day. The powders are so finely milled that they actually feel like cream shadows. And as usual when it comes to Bobbi Brown, the colors are flattering on women of different ages—you could wear this on the first day of school, whether you're in high school or you're dropping off your little one at pre-school.

Bellissima! Givenchy Prisme Again! Secret Blush Quartet

Givenchy Prisme Again! Secret Blush Quartet in Secret Rose ($40) is the second part of the new limited-edition products for Autumn.

Givenchy Prisme Again! Secret Blush Quartet in Secret Rose ($40) is the second part of the new limited-edition products for Autumn. The first was the fabulous Prismissime Eyes Cache-Cache camouflage palette for the eyes, and this is a customizable pink shimmer blush palette for the cheeks.

Besides being stunning to look at, the four shades of fuchsia, peach, mauve and gold contain just the perfect amount of pink to create a natural glow.

The formula is made from spherical granules that absorb excess sebum so that the blush is doing all of the glistening, not the icky unwanted oils on your face!

Also, just like the the eye palette, inside you'll find more words of wisdom from Audrey Hepburn: "Laugh Often." All you need is a smile and this blush, and you're fully dressed to sparkle!

Chanel Fall 2007 Exclusive Collection

Chanel's Fall 2007 Exclusive Collection is simply gorgeous!

To that end, the collection is packed with greens, plums, pinks and golds to help transition from summer to winter. And of course, Chanel has also included a new red lipstick. It's a fabulous brick color, perfect for those who don't do well with their usual bluish-reds.

Parts of the collection have been released slowly, but the rest is still to come. (Isn't that just the thing about Chanel, they always leave you wanting more!) The new collection features:

  • Cheeks: Joues Contrast Powder Blush in Narcisse (bright pink), and Irrèele Blush in Neroli Rose (shimmery pink).

Back to Cool: Wild Thing

Wild thing...you make my heart sing...you make everything grooooovy.

Wild thing...you make my heart sing...you make everything grooooovy. Yes, the girls on Christopher Kane's Fall runway were fierce. And fierce is the way of the wild thing. Every school has one, or a pack, and these girls pretend to come from nothing and be all tough when, in fact, they were born with silver Tiffany spoons in their mouths and are secretly rebelling against their parents. The wild thing's actions may be quixotic, but the ride is guaranteed fashion fun.

I'll bring you more on the Givenchy Fall 2007 Collection later, but for now, I just couldn't resist giving you a peek at this stunning new Prismissime Eyes Cache-Cache Palette ($53). This petite, camouflage-inspired compact holds a mixture of nine matte and metallic shades: khaki, midnight blue, sky blue, gold, brick red, black, ivory, peach and whisper pink. The bottom level cleverly holds two sponge applicators, so you can touch up on the run.

Engraved in the mirror, you'll also find another surprise. It's an inscription that shares the beauty philosophy of Givenchy's muse, Audrey Hepburn: "Style for Life."

The shadows are made of fine, lightweight powders that feel so silky, they can either be applied with an applicator or your fingertip. They can each be worn alone or blended together to create your own unique look. Or if you want to mimic Audrey's eyes, pick up Audrey Style, which has step-by-step instructions on recreating her lovely look.

Back to Cool: The Bookworm

Every parent dreams their child to be the bookworm.

Every parent dreams their child to be the bookworm. What if you could be a bookworm and a style maven? Now that is what I call a prize daughter. This girl knows the tricks on how to cuddle up and remain chic, since she'll be walking to and from the library at all hours; she would emulate the snow bunnied up gals on the Marc by Marc Jacobs runway. There is no excuse to sacrifice style, not even when hitting the books.

Whether you love her, hate her, love to hate her, or are her, every school has a goodie two shoes, or in this case goodie two Louis Vuitton booties. She may be a brownosing do-gooder but at least she's got style to back it up - she obviously took great notes on the ladylike Louis Vuitton collection. From the Vermeer-inspired berets to the sheen in the circle and pencil skirts to the rich color palette, it's hard to hate this girl. Consider her a frenemie? Truce.
