Acne's Fall 2010 Sci-Fi Collection Inspired by Star Wars Cartoons

Acne designer Jonny Johansson found inspiration for his fall 2010 collection, show yesterday in London, in his children's current obsession—"The Clone Wars" cartoons.

Acne designer Jonny Johansson found inspiration for his fall 2010 collection, show yesterday in London, in his children's current obsession—"The Clone Wars" cartoons. Hours spent watching Star Wars videos and playing with character figurines had its impact on the Stockholm-based designer as seen in his current science-fiction-meets-utility collection. Models (with metallic painted foreheads) wore sand-colored jumsuits, rugged leather jackets, and deconstructed patchwork coats along with oversized track pants and metallic bangles worn as ankle cuffs. Very chic little galactic warriors.

They will be replenished once a week for four weeks. “The [images] were originally only supposed to be posters we were going to send to editors and stores,” said Wang. “But I felt the energy was much more appropriate for something like guerrilla marketing than anything too proper or formal. Because T is really the core foundation of what Alexander Wang stands for, I thought it should be something that could be much more democratic.”

He's also got a jewelry collaboration in the works »

In anticipation of the men's market hitting Paris tomorrow, the Opening Ceremony blog just posted their fall 2010 men's collection (a selection of which can be found in the gallery below). Arriving in stores early next fall, the lineup "takes inspiration from the style and culture of modern France" with classic Breton stripes and a nod to traditional French navy uniforms, but we can't help but see a little New England ice fisherman in there somewhere, too. Must be all those flannel sweatpants paired with wooly cardigans and skullcaps.

>> After losing trademark rights to his name last June when he publicly sounded off against the label's owners, Alessandro Dell'Acqua is making a return to fashion with a new collection, dubbed N° 21.  The name comes from the designer's birthday on Dec. 21, and it's also his lucky number.

Dell'Acqua is taking advantage of the opportunity to start with a clean slate.  He told WWD: “I looked back at what I did in the past and decided to put the focus on wearable, every day clothes more than on eveningwear."

The first 80-piece collection, which spans dresses to knitwear to outerwear, will debut at the upcoming Fall 2010 Milan Fashion Week with a small runway show.
