“Elisa Sednaoui’s confident style and authentic sense of fashion successfully captures the modern spirit of this campaign,” said Darcy Penick, divisional merchandise manager for Shopbop, of the choice. The ads are expected to run in the September and October issues of magazines like Vogue, In Style, Elle, and Lucky.

>> In March, it was reported that Carine Roitfeld would serve as muse, stylist, and guest editor for the Barneys New York Fall 2011 ad campaign — and now images have surfaced showing that Roitfeld will star in them as well. Entitled "Carine's World", the Mario Sorrenti-shot campaign features the former French Vogue editor looking très chic in a black Rick Owens leather-skirt-and-sweater ensemble. But Carine's not the only Roitfeld to be featured in the new campaign; daughter Julia Restoin-Roitfeld poses in a sheer Givenchy number, while son Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld makes an appearance in his own clothing. Other famous faces to appear in the collaboration — out this September — reportedly include Natasha Poly, Victoire de Castellane, Dasha Zhukova, Noami Campbell, and Marie Amelie Suave.

Olivier Theyskens's First Theory Collection Is Hitting Stores

>> The first Theory collection that Olivier Theyskens had a hand in designing is just rolling into stores, and both parties involved — Theory founder Andrew Rosen and Theyskens — continue to seem pleased with the partnership.

>> The first Theory collection that Olivier Theyskens had a hand in designing is just rolling into stores, and both parties involved — Theory founder Andrew Rosen and Theyskens — continue to seem pleased with the partnership. Rosen told the New York Times in an article published over the weekend that he didn't want to put constraints on Theyskens's design process, but that he did want him to know how the clothes were selling: “We want Olivier to understand that a lot of what he’s doing is working but some things aren’t." And Theyskens seems to be enjoying that type of information — apparently, his debut Theyskens' Theory was bought nearly in its entirety. “It’s the first time ever,” he said, noting that when he designed ready-to-wear at Rochas or Nina Ricci, stores usually bought his extravagant dresses rather than the everyday basics.

Richardson photographed and Carine Roitfeld styled Eniko Mihalik — holding plastic, plaid-shirted Terry Richardson dolls — for David Webb's three-image Fall 2011 jewelry campaign. This is the company's first set of ads in over 20 years, says new Webb co-owner Sima Ghadamian, who hired Roitfeld and Richardson to help reinvigorate the brand. “We wanted to reintroduce David Webb to the world with a new look, but with having all of the original designs he made when he was the biggest designer of his time,” Ghadamian added, describing the three ads as “sexy, young, abundant” and “full of saturated color.”

Alexander McQueen Fall 2011 Campaign

Sarah Burton took the dramatic route for Alexander McQueen's latest set of Fall ads, featuring Raquel Zimmermann. Shot by David Sims, the apocalyptic setting depicts a glowing Raquel wearing Burton's intricately designed pieces for the fashion house. The contrast between the dark (desolate valleys and burnt ashes) and light (Burton's highly artistic designs) surely catches our attention — do you agree? Check out the rest of the campaign in the slideshow then tell us your thoughts.

>> Just as it has been announced that the Costume Institute's "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty" set an attendance record over the weekend, the house's Fall 2011 ad campaign — featuring Raquel Zimmermann in her own kind of savage beauty, captured by David Sims — has dropped.

As of Sunday night, more than 582,000 people have seen the "Savage Beauty" show, surpassing the previous record — for a fashion exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art — of 576,000, set by “Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy” in 2008. The McQueen exhibit closes in a week on Aug. 7, and is expected by that time to rank among the Met's 20 most popular exhibitions, since the museum began tracking attendance 50 years ago.

>> In contrast to last season's Prada campaign video — which saw models like Arizona Muse and Mariacarla Boscono bopping around to upbeat music — this season's campaign film is much moodier. Lots of accessories closeups are contrasted with a breathy voiceover, and there's no dancing here: instead, Kelly Mittendorf languishes on a blue sofa or Frida Gustavsson freezes in pose on a purple bench; fellow Fall 2011 Prada faces Julia Zimmer, Ondria Hardin, and Antonia Wesseloh also make appearances.

>> A deal that has been rumored since March 2010 could go through as soon as this Friday, Cathy Horyn reports, although she notes that the talks are not yet complete.

European private equity firm Permira — which took a 45 percent stake in Proenza Schouler four years ago and is also the principle owner of Valentino — is expected to sell its shares to a group of New York investors led by Andrew Rosen (founder of Theory, overseer of Helmut Lang, and investor in both Rag & Bone and Alice + Olivia) and John Howard, an early and successful investor in Seven for All Mankind and Aeropostale.

Horyn speculates that after the deal is complete, Proenza Schouler may explore more product categories like denim or bolster its accessories offering with more leather goods, shoes, and eyewear.

As for Proenza launches already in the works, the label just released its Fall 2011 ad campaign (left), shot in New York's Milk Studios by Willy Vanderperre, styled by Marie Chaix, and starring Zuzanna Bijoch.
