For the Fall transition, we're excited to slip on a pair of matchstick pants to pair with our fresh crop of sweaters, silky boyfriend tops, and blazers. Cut close to the body and cropped right at the ankle, matchstick pants are universally flattering and add a slightly more formal touch to your everyday look. Designers like Jason Wu, Etro, and Isabel Marant — we love her fringed rendition, seen above — showed a wide array of saturated colors and textured fabrics that's sure to add an unexpected element of sleek splendor to any Fall look. Style them with suede ankle boots or a pair of pointed-toe pumps for a decidedly retro cool tilt on Fall dressing — shop our editors' picks at all price points now.

Beyoncé Is Pure Rock 'n' Roll in House of Deréon's Fall Ads

We're looking at a decidedly edgier Beyoncé — treating a stark desert landscape like it's her very own catwalk, no less — in the latest batch of House of Dereon ads.

We're looking at a decidedly edgier Beyoncé — treating a stark desert landscape like it's her very own catwalk, no less — in the latest batch of House of Dereon ads. The singer, who codesigns the line with her mom, Tina Knowles, departed from her usual glamorous fare and instead, spun a fashion campaign tale chock-full of rock 'n' roll attitude. And we love it, obviously. Sure, she looks amazing, but that comes as no surprise. This time around, we're really digging the collection's commitment to subversive wares and punched-up details. From corseted zipper-pull crop tops to thigh-high slit leopard-printed maxi skirts, there's a hint of Beyoncé's personal style in every shot. To see more of her in House of Dereon moto vests, high-waisted harem pants, and cap-toe boots, just keep clicking.

The Power of Pink — Fall's New Color Crush

Fall is usually a time when we swap out our bright colors for a darker palette but before you start storing everything away, leave out your pink pieces.

Fall is usually a time when we swap out our bright colors for a darker palette but before you start storing everything away, leave out your pink pieces. From dust, powder hues to bold neon, designers like Marc Jacobs, Jil Sander, and Bottega Veneta embraced the color as a new Fall staple adding a much welcomed jolt of color to our cold weather wardrobe. Try pairing tailored pink wool shorts with a blazer and booties for a tailored transitional look, or simply amp up your ladylike style in a printed pink shirtdress. Even if you're not traditionally a "pink girl," our editors' picks just might sway you the other way.

The Freshest, Chicest Way to Update Your Hair This Fall

The Birkin bag? How about Birkin bangs?

The Birkin bag? How about Birkin bangs? She's inspired a classic bag from Hermès, and now singer and actress Jane Birkin is the inspiration behind this upcoming season's quickest, easiest hairstyle update. While Fall may be the perfect time to enrich your hair color or get a whole new cut, if you don't want to make a huge change, adding fringe is a fabulous way to go.

"Refreshing your hair [for Fall] could be something as simple as giving yourself bangs," says Alberto VO5 hair expert Chris Lospalluto. "They don't have to be the straight-across Naomi Campbell moment; they can be a '60s-Jane Birkin where they're long and fringy." That way, you have options. They're long enough that you can easily pull them over to the side, but also short enough to look wispy and cool when worn down.

And to keep that wispy style from skewing stringy by day's end, Lospalluto recommends dry shampoo. "You just want something to soak up a bit of the oil; refresh it so you can leave work and go to dinner and not feel like you have a greasy forehead." In a pinch? Try baby powder instead.

The Key to Getting the Bold Brow Trend Right

From New York City to Milan to Paris, bold, structured eyebrows were one of the biggest runway makeup trends for Fall 2012.

From New York City to Milan to Paris, bold, structured eyebrows were one of the biggest runway makeup trends for Fall 2012. And now that the cooler, crisper season is nigh, it's time to anchor those richer, deeper makeup palettes with equally impressive brows. But how do you get the look right minus the cartoony effects?

It's called eyebrow gel, and Make Up For Ever's Aqua Brow ($20) is outright amazing (although most brow-toned, cream-to-matte eye colors should do the trick). What makes this particular type of product so great is its high pigmentation level and stay-put finish. And because this gel dries to a semipowdery consistency, you'll get natural-looking definition that both fills and lengthens. To apply, use an angled brow brush to sculpt your eyebrows freehand and run a spooly brush over the gel to break up the product and set it. But if you prefer to work with a bit more structure, employ the magic of an eyebrow stencil for an even more precise result.

The bold brow trend was seen at the following Fall 2012 runway shows: J. Mendel (upper left), Marc by Marc Jacobs (upper middle), Burberry Prorsum (upper right), Alexander Wang (center left), Proenza Schouler (center middle), Derek Lam (center right), Givenchy (lower left), Fendi (lower middle), and Max Mara (lower right).

Loeffler Randall's Fall 2012 Shoes & Bags Are Here

Jessie Randall sure has a way with shoes.
Loeffler Randall Fall 2012 Shoes and Bags

Jessie Randall sure has a way with shoes. Over the past seven years, the sliver-wedge boots, wood-heeled pumps, and pointy-toe flats she's created for her line Loeffler Randall have become wardrobe mainstays — and each season's new batch of styles is somehow even more covetable than the last. It should come as no surprise, then, that the designer's first foray into bags is equally lust-worthy.

Inspired by men's briefcases, the bags come in an array of easy-carrying shapes that are feminine yet totally functional. The Rider bag, for example, is a work-perfect attaché that also happens to be equipped with adjustable straps — perfect for affixing to the front of one's bike. "It's got compartments for your iPad, your iPhone, all your credit cards," Randall explains. "We talked a little bit about the 'girl on the go' who just wants a minimal bag to carry things."

That sort of versatility and practicality has always been at the heart of Randall's line, and it doesn't hurt that the designer test-drives everything on herself. "I love the Gerta platform pump in red — it's a wow shoe that truly makes the look," she says
of her favorites for the season. "I've also been wearing the Gaia platform bootie a lot. Love that height with such a low pitch; it feels like I'm wearing flats so it's the best of both worlds."
