New York Fashion Week showgoers are a hearty bunch. Snow, sleet, and wind can't stop them from pulling out all the stops, especially when it comes to their shoes and bags. To wit: last season's batch of street-snapped style pics. It's filled with so many drop-dead gorgeous heels and handbags, one would never know as we march warmly into September's Fashion Week that New York's sidewalks and streets can actually be a slushy, salty mess. Click through to see what we mean.
When Balenciaga officially revealed Le Dix, its first collection of handbags for Fall 2013 designed by Alexander Wang, we knew they were as close to a game-changer for the brand as bags could be. Now their dramatic simplicity has been brought to life, courtesy of a video shot by Toby McFarlan Pond under the artistic direction of Wang, whose sharp light, quick cutaways, and playful music
According to people who claim to know, Kanye West's much-talked-about unisex clothing line is about 60 percent finished — and it seems to be pretty wearable, too.
One source who spoke to The New York Post said the collection is "completely wearable and surprisingly cohesive," but another sniped that it resembles a "cheaper looking version of an old Rick Owens collection mixed in with his APC capsule."
The Post broke the news about the unisex line in July, shortly after West unveiled a collaboration with APC that included jeans, hoodies, and t-shirts. At the time it was believed that West would present the line during Paris Fashion Week, but another source says the excitement surrounding the birth of his daughter, North West, may have slowed down his design aspirations.
Whether he will show next month remains to be seen, but West is no stranger to staging shows in the City of Light. After negative reviews for his Spring 2012 collection and lukewarm comments for his Fall 2012 collection, West decided not to stage a show for Spring 2013.
Unisex clothing lines can be tricky to execute, but they've been popular among celebrities in recent years. Chloë Sevigny presented a "men's unisex" clothing line in 2009, and Jennifer Farley of Jersey Shore fame had plans to create a unisex line in 2010.
Lady Gaga is back to her outlandish style antics. She was spotted at Heathrow Airport Monday night in an Atelier Versace Fall 2013 jumpsuit embroidered with black sequins and Swarovski crystals — and not much else. It may have only been last week when we thought that Lady Gaga was turning away from shocking sartorial moments, but it seems like Mother Monster is back in all her outrageous glory, pushing the boundaries with celebrity airport style. We don't know if she'll be pulling out her meat dress anytime soon, but it seems like she's reinterpreting rebellious fashion just in time for ARTPOP's debut.
Nate Berkus's new collection at Target is finally here! With 27 pieces inspired by Nate's travels and his love of estate jewelry, the line mixes art deco details with '70s glamour for a collection that gets us excited for the change in seasons. If this is what Fall looks like, bring it on!
Jayson Home has an uncanny way of reader our minds in the way that it seems to know what we want even before we do. The Fall collection is full of rich textiles (indigo, anyone?), heirloom quality pieces of furniture, and insanely beautiful lighting. Here are the 12 pieces that are making us drool right now.
Instead of the lush photo diaries he's created in past Polaroid campaigns for Band of Outsiders, Scott Sternberg cast Rashida Jones and her sister Kidada for Fall 2013's shorter spread.
The 10 Polaroids in the campaign were shot at The Dresden Restaurant in Los Angeles. By contrast, Frank Ocean's campaign for Spring 2013 featured more than 21 images and was shot in various locations. These photos also have overlays of single words in parentheses. A picture of Kidada wearing a turban features the text (TURBS).
Sternberg took the photos just last month, but he's been keeping up with the Jones sisters since long before he started his brand. Only three images have been released so far. Stay tuned for the other seven, which will be released this week on Tumblr and Instagram.
Behind-the-scenes photos of Gisele Bündchen's latest campaign for H&M have been floating around since April, but today the brand released its full set of Fall 2013 ads.
In the images, the matriarch of the world's most photogenic family is seen cozying up to a few of the warm sweaters and outerwear H&M is offering up for Fall. Photographer Lachlan Bailey shot the campaign on the streets of London, and his blending of Gisele's exotic beauty against a background of crisp, white buildings and wrought iron makes for a distinctly international campaign.
H&M has had some heavy hitters in its campaigns of late, most recently working with Beyoncé. But for Bündchen, this is almost a homecoming. She last worked with the brand for its Spring 2011 campaign. A look at her new ads, here in the gallery.
Get ready to leave colorful foliage and heavy sweaters behind — for Fall, boutique Bona Drag is heading into the desert. And with that dusty excursion comes flowing maxi dresses, printed caftans, ethnically inspired jewelry, and more than one sleek, wide-brimmed black hat (you need to keep the sun out of your eyes somehow, right?). If you've always wanted to try out being a Pre-Raphaelite desert rose, or just live in a warmer climate and are wondering how to wear Fall colors without feeling the heat, this may be your chance to come into full bloom.
