>> After five consecutive Chanel campaigns — ending with the Fall 2011 set styled by Carine Roitfeld — it sounds like Freja Beha Erichsen's reign has come to an end. Roitfeld and Karl Lagerfeld reteamed over the weekend at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France, where Lagerfeld shot Saskia de Brauw and Joan Smalls for the Spring 2012 Chanel ads, which are “all about athletics and the sea. . . . It’s very modern sportif and in black and white,” according to the designer. He is now headed to Rome to shoot Fendi's Spring 2012 campaign with Arizona Muse, who will pose on the city's streets at dawn and dusk. She replaces Anja Rubik, who has been the face of Fendi for the past four seasons. [WWD]
>> "Love is in the Hair" is the name of Delfina Delettrez's new tress-inspired jewelry collection. Whimsical, yes, but that should be no surprise from a designer known for her witty, surrealistic approach. "Love is in the Hair" has Delettrez revisiting some of her favorite themes — anatomy, memory, nature — resulting in a collection of keepsakes which are both amusing and appealing. Fashioned from unusual materials, the collection is filled with what read like tiny works of art; there are hairpins decorated with lips, heart-shaped resin pendants hanging from studded-leather collars, precious metal and stone "DNA" necklaces, and a miniature metallic purse that dangles from a rose gold ring. For Spring 2012, Fendi embraces sexiness, humor, and ladylike dressing all at once. It's what might happen if more buttoned-up types let their hair down without really surrendering their aesthetic. Essentially, structures and silhouettes remain intact with shift dresses, suiting, coats, and evening dresses — but each gets an edgy update with cutouts or rich fabrics like suede and leather with perforated, dot detailing carried throughout. Exceptions, like furry textural vests and long, sheer black gowns make their appearance, but overall the work speaks mainly to modern, pulled-together types who favor modern-cut classics like stripes on their blouses and a great skirt suit.
Style star Kim Kardashian was glowing and glamorous on the blue carpet at the Do Something Awards in LA. Kim styled her formfitting Antonio Berardi gown with a mirrored belt, Fendi pumps, and a Judith Leiber clutch.
