It's Official: Vogue Paris to Debut English Version Next Week

>> Vogue Paris will keep the promise it made on Twitter last Friday by adding an English option to its website.

Jennifer Neyt, who edits Vogue.fr, said starting Monday, April 16, the website will feature both French and British flags on its navigation bar; clicking on the Union Jack will display the website in English. For now, all the articles will be English translations of stories that were originally written in French.

Vogue Italia's website is the only other Vogue property that has an option to switch between two languages. French Vogue announced it would add the functionality last Friday when it tweeted, "France gave the US the Statue of Liberty, now we are taking Vogue.fr to the wider world... get ready for #VogueParisinEnglish."

Those stories and more — here in our daily news roundup.

  • A video that's making its way around the web shows an angry Gisele cursing after the Patriots' Super Bowl loss to the Giants. The supermodel didn't know she was being filmed. [Huffington Post]

  • Speaking of the Super Bowl, Vogue didn't charge Madonna to use its logo during her halftime show — in fact, Condé granted the singer permission to use the logo way back in early January. "We're so very grateful to Madonna to have been part of such a spectacular performance," Anna Wintour said. The performance was viewed by over 100 million people. [Styleite]

  • American Vogue isn't the only Condé glossy embracing the art of musical performance. In honor of the launch of French Vogue's new website, Emmanuelle Alt has filmed a video in which she dances and lip-synchs along to Wham's "Wake Me Up." Models Anja Rubik, Karmen Pedaru, Jasmine Tookes, and Kendra Spears serve as backup dancers. [French Vogue]

  • Alexander Wang will not be hosting his usual — and infamous — postshow party this Fashion Week. However, according to his publicists, the party will be back on next season. [The Cut]

  • And, in preparation for Fashion Week, here's a style tip from Iris Apfel: "If your hair is done properly and you're wearing good shoes, you can get away with anything." So true, so true. [Footwear News]

Kate Moss Gets Handled and Goes Topless For French Vogue

Kate Moss is being pulled in all different directions on the cover of May's French Vogue.

Kate Moss is being pulled in all different directions on the cover of May's French Vogue. She goes topless inside the issue, which is the second effort from the magazine's newest editor in chief, Emmanuelle Alt, after Gisele Bundchen graced the front of French Vogue in April. Kate took time for the sexy poses in between her busy schedule of concert hopping with Jamie Hince, filming a commercial in France, and maintaining her social calendar. She's also prepping for her upcoming nuptials, though the exciting royal wedding will come first, and we'll be live during the big event on Friday, April 29, so don't miss all the coverage!

French Vogue Inspires Us to Take a Second Look at Headbands

We're a little wary of headbands here, stemming way back to painful middle school pictures that included giant, sequined, pink, bow-topped things.

We're a little wary of headbands here, stemming way back to painful middle school pictures that included giant, sequined, pink, bow-topped things. We've watched the headband return (this time hippie-style) atop the head like a crown. We said no. Then Malgosia Bela appears in a gorgeous editorial for French Vogue, edited by none other than Emmanuelle Alt, and we think: is it time to give headbands a second chance? Also, we're heading to Coachella soon, the base camp for all things hippie and headbanded — shall we incorporate them into our festival outfits?

After much speculation regarding who, what, or where Carine might be heading to after leaving Vogue Paris, Roitfeld has finally announced her next gig as a guest editor, muse, and stylist for Barneys New York's multifaceted Fall 2011 initiative. "For me, Barneys has always been the biggest name in luxury department stores, so to be able to participate in this project with them, and be visible during the next fashion week in New York, is my dream come true," said Roitfeld. "To a French girl, it's a big, big dream."

In addition to styling and editing Barneys's advertising campaign — which will be shot by her close colleague Mario Sorrenti — catalog, and Fall mailers, Roitfeld will play a part in styling Barneys's famous Madison Avenue windows, set to unveil in September. Barneys customers will also be treated with a short Sorrenti-shot film, showing them a more personal side of Roitfeld highlighting her views on fashion and style. "Barneys is about a sense of surprise and discovery, and Carine is a reminder that fashion needs a sense of the unexpected," said Mark Lee, Barneys CEO. We can't wait to see Carine's work at Barneys; are you excited as well?

It doesn't hit newsstands until Feb. 25, but highlights from Carine Roitfeld's final issue as editor in chief of French Vogue have been released online. Her replacement, the lovely Emmanuelle Alt, has been making her first real public debut at Fashion Week in New York and London, and we're just as excited for her first issue. The March issue's theme is fantasy, and Carine referenced surrealist artist Salvador Dali in stories featuring supermodels like Karolina Kurkova, Daria Werbowy, and Lara Stone. Click on the slideshow to get your sneak peek inside the much-anticipated issue. Be forewarned: there is a touch of nudity so this is NSFW.
