2010 Fall NYFW Trend: Fur Fest

Let me preface this by reminding you not to shoot the messenger.

Let me preface this by reminding you not to shoot the messenger. Alas, in case you haven't already noticed, New York's Fall runways were flurried with fur. Dip-dyed, hooded, hatted, vested, trimmed, bagged, and even shoed (left, at Zac Posen) New York designers continue to have a penchant for fur. Will this be the season you take the plunge?

Love It or Hate It? Fur in Your Home

Fur made a big appearance at New York Fashion Week, but did it register on your home decorating radar?

Fur made a big appearance at New York Fashion Week, but did it register on your home decorating radar? There's plenty of it to be found in the home decor world, including this Adrienne Landau Rabbit Throw ($2400). While I'm sure the throw is sumptuously soft, I couldn't imagine including something like this in my home. How about in yours?

Michael Kors

2010 Fall New York: Michael Kors

There's only one designer who could make me want to wear camel, gray, and black for the rest of my life.

There's only one designer who could make me want to wear camel, gray, and black for the rest of my life. That would be Michael Kors. Kors churned out a luxuriously frumpled mix of furs, knits, layers, and evening. I know some of you have qualms about fur, but when it flops on the runway atop cashmere bodysuits and suede trousers, it's oh so tempting. And where there's cashmere, there's sparkle. Gold lurex separates, anthracite tweed, and a to-die-for jersey draped gown (here, middle) sedated the lush knits and pullovers. Not that I want to be sedated. A notable tailoring nuance: slitted elbows on coats and sweaters — the coolest air vents I've ever seen. Completely transfixed by both the clothes and the sexy male models, I realized: where's Kors' cover girl Carmen Kass? She was in the show notes, hope she's OK, I missed her dearly . . .

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2010: Thakoon's Top 10 Looks

New York Fashion Week is experiencing a snow day today, therefore Thakoon's primitive cozy chic collection feels just right.

New York Fashion Week is experiencing a snow day today, therefore Thakoon's primitive cozy chic collection feels just right. Shearling jackets, fur everything, asymmetrical hems, velveteen, and Thakoon's signature artsy florals were thrust together to form the ultimate Swiss Alps outfit. White tights, suede lace-up booties, and thermal leggings completed Thakoon's snow bunnies. At the same time, everything felt romantic — Edwardian marries Where the Wild Things Are. Purr, rawr.

Kanye and Amber's Full-On Furs: Love It or Hate It?

Fur alert! I don't have a huge problem with twinkies; sometimes couples can really complement each other.

Fur alert! I don't have a huge problem with twinkies; sometimes couples can really complement each other. Kanye West and Amber Rose wore a couple of pretty massive furs to the Louis Vuitton menswear show in Paris. They certainly look warm, but do they look cool?

Elizabeth Hurley's red carpet looks are always elegant. The stunner recently attended the Grey Goose Winter Fundraiser in London wearing an ethereal lavender gown and white fur gilet. A metallic silver clutch and diamond bangle are her adornments of choice. Do you love it or hate it?

Fab Tip: Faux Fur, Snip Snip

Sienna Miller's Topshop faux fur coat looked amazing on her (as does Anja Rubik's, left), but it reminded me that faux fur coats often overpower.

Sienna Miller's Topshop faux fur coat looked amazing on her (as does Anja Rubik's, left), but it reminded me that faux fur coats often overpower. A while back I bought one, a faux rabbit, and now I know why I haven't given it much wear — it makes me feel gaudy. Thanks to the cold weather recently, it hit me: I couldn't just let that gorgeous brown faux fur sit there, alone. I took matters into my own hands — or rather, gave the matter to my tailor and let her work her magic.

Would You Buy a Sheepskin Throw?

Crave Worthy Creations member HannahNicole is throwing activism to the wind in favor of a sheepskin throw: The animal activist inside me is screaming "No!"

Crave Worthy Creations member HannahNicole is throwing activism to the wind in favor of a sheepskin throw:

The animal activist inside me is screaming "No!" — but regardless, I'm absolutely in love with this sheepskin ($449, originally $899). It would be the perfect home accent when I'm cozy by the fireplace, so soft and plush. I know it's wrong, but I can't help it. I'll take one for Christmas, please.

Look of the Day: Fall Fur

One of the best things about Autumn is dressing up in warm, cuddly clothes.

One of the best things about Autumn is dressing up in warm, cuddly clothes. That's exactly what deuxfashion did today. Her vintage Fall fur vest looks luxe and luscious. I like how she paired it with a loose blouse and skinny jeans for a modern bohemian vibe. Zoe would be proud.

Here's what she has on:

Vest: Foxfor
Jeans: Forever 21
Shoes: Target
Blouse: Vintage
Bracelets: Unknown
Necklace: Unknown

Would You Ever Sleep Under a Fur Throw?

While this fur throw looks pretty luxurious, I'm having a hard time getting over the ick factor related to that much fur next to my body.

While this fur throw looks pretty luxurious, I'm having a hard time getting over the ick factor related to that much fur next to my body. Even if this is a fake fur throw, I'd still prefer a fluffy duvet with a high thread count cotton cover, or a chic cashmere blanket any day. It's a texture preference, more than anything. But are any of you fur throw fans?Source
