>> News just broke that Patrick Robinson has been let go as executive vice president of Gap Global Design for Adult and Body. "After spending the last three months in New York with the creative team, I’ve made the decision to make a change within our Gap Adult design team,” said Pam Wallack, head of the Gap Global Creative Center. Robinson joined Gap in 2007 hoping to revive the brand, but his efforts did not make the mark as North America sales reports indicated negative sales results and inconsistent compared to its international operations. The brand is currently looking for a replacement, but in the interim, Jennifer Giangualano, senior vice president of Gap Kids and Baby Design, will help oversee the adult design team. [WWD]

Gap Shows Fall 2011; Sneak Peek at the Collection Here!
At their Fall 2011 preview yesterday in New York, Gap showed a polished and sleek collection of separates designed for easy sophistication. There were plenty of pants, from leather leggings to bootcut trousers and skinny cords. Leather pieces — including a nude leather jacket and black shift dress — showed a super chic direction and suggested that Gap might be a destination for more than denim and tees next Fall. Accessories were a bit more sleek as well, from leather crossbody bags to pointy-toe heels with a little petal on the back, showing a grown-up Gap girl who can easily dress up her denim. Plaid Pieces Don't Have to Stay in Your Checkered Past

Plaid may be known for being a Fall staple, but it can work just as well for Spring. Put away your thick flannels — look for lightweight checkered pieces in a bright color combo, or pair your plaids with fresh white denim to make them Spring-ready. If you can only take plaid in small doses, try a chic pair of slip-on sneakers, or a straw fedora with a fun plaid ribbon. Click the items below to shop now.
Sweatshirts and Stripes

>> Bold stripes are a big thing for Spring thanks to Prada. We like Andy Torres from Style Scrapbook's interpretation of the trend — a beige and black calf-length maxi and slouchy sweatshirt combo, jazzed up with a tan belt, cat-eye sunnies, and boots. Get a similar casual-meets-cunning ensemble with our picks from Acne, Gap, Alexander Wang, and Michael Kors.
