Lou Doillon and Dree Hemingway For Free People October 2012

Free People assembled a trio of fashion's coolest women, including Garance Doré, Lou Doillon, and Dree Hemingway, for its colorful October catalog.

While Hemingway posed for photographer Chadwick Tyler, Doré shot and interviewed Doillon in and around her home. "I like the idea of having a lot of things, and I like having houses that make people want to stay," Doillon says. The same idea extends to the Fall garments from Free People: chunky knitwear, cozy sweaters, lived-in boots, and soft denim are exactly the kinds of clothes necessary for Fall. A look at the catalog here in the gallery.

Garance Dore Reed Krakoff Boxer Bag Travel Diary

Garance Doré took a few iterations of Reed Krakoff's Boxer Bag on her travels to New York, Paris, Tokyo, and beyond. The result? A photo story that went live on the designer's site Monday.

"It's the kind of bag you get so attached to that you end up taking it everywhere you go," Doré told WWD. "The pictures came naturally as I was living my life. Montauk on the beach, New York for Fashion Week, Paris with my love . . . so many great memories."

In the audio slideshow that accompanies the collaboration, Doré says she loves "the idea of taking a very chic bag out of its context." Doré's photos of the Boxer — which retails for $990 and up — here, in the gallery.

>>You've seen the pictures from Wednesday evening's event — now here's a video that will make you really wish you were there. Put together by Swarovski — who is underwriting the awards for the 11th year in a row now — the video reads like a who's who of the industry. Among those who make cameos? Well, there's Carolina Herrera, Johan Lindeberg, Narciso Rodriguez, Rachel Roy, Rebecca Minkoff, Peter Som, Phillip Lim, Diane von Furstenberg, Pamela Love, Stefano Tonchi, Virginia Smith, Garance Doré, and Scott Schuman — just to name a few. There's also lots of head-nodding, air-kissing, champagne-drinking, and general good times being had all around.

>> After three years of dating, Garance Dore and Scott Schuman are making it official — residentially official, anyway.

>> After three years of dating, Garance Dore and Scott Schuman are making it official — residentially official, anyway. Dore received her visa last month and has recently moved into a prewar Greenwich Village loft with Schuman, on West 10th Street. “I don’t make sacrifices,” she says of her move. “There is no, ‘I leave everything for my man.’ I just do things when they make me feel good and they feel right." But: “I wanted to be with Scott," she says, adding: "I never felt at home in Paris.” [NY Times]

Alessandra, Izabel, Maryna, and Isabeli Are Making Some Funny Faces in Dolce & Gabbana's Spring 2011 Ad Campaign

>> Now that the full set of Dolce & Gabbana's Spring 2011 ad campaign is out, the images together are quite something. Garance Dore noted earlier this week that both the Chloe and Valentino Spring campaigns show models who are actually smiling, and with Dolce, the models are also actually showing emotion, but of a different kind: Steven Klein captured Isabeli Fontana, Alessandra Ambrosio, Maryna Linchuk, and Izabel Goulart mid-yell in more than one image, and Alessandra goading Isabeli in another. Of course, there are the requisite sultry looks — this is Dolce & Gabbana we're talking about — but it's worth noting that models are starting to be given some freedom of expression when it comes to ads.

The Weight of Anna Dello Russo's Gareth Pugh Masquerade Ball Headpiece Gave Her a Headache

>> There's that old adage about beauty is pain; for Anna Dello Russo, fashion is pain.

>> There's that old adage about beauty is pain; for Anna Dello Russo, fashion is pain. She admits that the custom Pucci gown and Gareth Pugh headpiece she wore to Vogue Paris's 90th Anniversary masquerade ball were a bit impossible: "A headpiece; a huge train; high wedges. When I came back after the Vogue ball I had a headache because the outfit was so heavy on my head." Garance Dore wrote of Dello Russo at the party: "She is amazing… But she can’t really move. So we make a circle of friendship around her. We bring her something to drink and make conversation…." When asked how she got around, Dello Russo replied, "In the car, leaning in the back seat. Someone helped me — my driver!" And for Halloween, she says she's wearing "something good, but I want to dance this time, and I want to enjoy myself a little bit more with my friends, so it will be a little bit easier." [Nowness]

Garance Dore Says Boyfriend Scott Schuman Is "Almost Like My Editor-in-Chief"

>> Garance Dore and Scott Schuman have been dating for two years, but their lives also intersect professionally, meaning that sometimes they — and other street-style photographers — sometimes hone in on the same subjects. “We all shoot things in different ways,” Dore says. “But if both Scott and I have a good picture of the same girl, we’ll both post it. We share some readers, and some readers aren’t the same.” She has been doing her blog for four years, and Schuman has been doing his for just over five, but she adds that he is “almost like my editor in chief.” [Harper's Bazaar]

Garance Dore Captures Behind The Scenes of David Yurman's Fall 2010 Campaign Featuring Kate Moss

>> David Yurman invited Garance Dore to St. Barths back in May to capture behind the scenes images of the brand's Fall 2010 campaign shoot.

>> David Yurman invited Garance Dore to St. Barths back in May to capture behind the scenes images of the brand's Fall 2010 campaign shoot. In doing so, the recent Paris transplant achieved one of her life dreams: taking part in a photo shoot with Peter Lindbergh, who's been photographing ads for Yurman for the past ten years.

"Lindbergh’s shoots were like I always dreamt they would be, the big black screen in the middle of the beach, steamy jazz playing in the background, sublime and natural girls, the make-up a bit undone by the salted sea spray, sand in their hair, light right in their eyes," wrote Dore. "I didn’t ask him [Lindbergh] any questions. My happiness was simply in observing. Sometimes he’d come up to me, tell me a few stories, ask me some questions, try to understand what was this weird thing I do: this blog thing, it really interested him." A gallery of Dore's images, below, plus the only Fall 2010 David Yurman ad so far released — of Kate Moss styled by Alex White.
