Giambattista Valli Fall 2012

For Fall 2012, Giambattista Valli honed in on the neo-lady — a different breed of ladylike sensibility that mixed edgier prints with classically tailored silhouettes. The result? A mashup of brightly patterned chiffon, major fur embellishments, matchy-matchy suits, an updated take on houndstooth, and sheer pleated skirts to start. While the overarching theme was markedly femme sophistication, Valli took care to never let that steer him away from a bright color palette (orange! red! gold!), prints on prints, and see-through details. A perfect example of this can be found in a menswear-inspired suit set decked out in a bold geo-pattern, or in the sleek frocks adorned with a dropwaist-esque hem and embellished with fur. It's an interesting mix of evening-suitable looks injected with a totally youthful quirk.

  • Trends: Peplum sweaters, ladylike pencil skirts and modest sheaths, cinched waists, fur-lined hems, bold printed suits, sheer pleats, and patterned chiffon.
  • Colors: Black, white, red, gold, orange, and burgundy.
  • Key Look: We loved the fluid movement of the sheer pleated skirts — such a flirty feminine look — and the inclusion of bright patterns.
  • Accessories: Metallic waist belts and super chunky ankle-strap platforms.
  • Who Would Wear It: Red carpet A-listers like Emma Stone, Reese Witherspoon, Salma Hayek, and Diane Kruger.

Oscars: Emma Stone

Emma Stone is red delicious in a Giambattista Valli gown at the Oscars. It's fun and flirty — the tie-neck is just the sort of fashion flair that Emma can pull off, and she makes the most of it by pulling her hair back in an elegant sideswept bun and keeping the makeup neutral. For jewelry, her sparkly Louis Vuitton clutch makes the biggest statement, while the Vuitton earrings, from their high jewelry collection, are lovely — red spinels and diamonds set in white gold. What do you think of Emma's look?

For the second time today, Diane Kruger caught our attention at the Berlin Film Festival, this time wowing in a dramatic Giambattista Valli gown at the premiere of Farewell, My Queen. Thanks to a bold combination of polka dots, a ladylike tie-neckline, and a wash of sequins over the bodice, the couture confection may just be another one to add to the growing list of looks only Diane can wear. Adding to the drama, Diane sported an edgy set of cuff earrings, dark polish, and a statement clutch by Judith Leiber. We're still digesting the look, but now we're turning it to you — click through to see every angle, then be sure to tell us what you think in comments.

Zoe Saldana stepped out in LA last evening for the Children's Defense Fund's 21st annual Beat the Odds Awards wearing a perfectly polished ensemble. We love how Zoe opted for white accents, pairing a puffy sleeved top and peep-toe Giuseppe Zanotti heels with a neon Giambattista Valli striped tweed pencil skirt. Take a style cue from Zoe and opt for Winter white accessories this season. On Allison: StyleMint top, Lia Sophia necklace.

Celeb Style: Zoe Saldana's Ladylike Cocktail Look

Zoe Saldana's solidified her status as a fashion darling with looks like this one at the Annual Beat the Odds event in Beverly Hills.

Zoe Saldana's solidified her status as a fashion darling with looks like this one at the Annual Beat the Odds event in Beverly Hills. She balances both sophistication and sex appeal with ease, showcasing her curves in a sweet, striped Giambattista Valli pencil skirt ($653, originally $1,305), while an adorable textural puff-sleeve topper counters with a dose of sweetness. The real testament to her skills is an eclectic mix of accessories that play off her look's textures and colors — a black embossed clutch and white Giuseppe Zanotti platforms work perfectly with her palette. Jessica Biel's Strong-Shoulder Gown: Love It or Leave It?

It's been a while since we've seen Jessica Biel on the red carpet in any capacity, but especially this dressed up.

It's been a while since we've seen Jessica Biel on the red carpet in any capacity, but especially this dressed up. Jess pulled out all the stops at last night's Fashion Group International Night of Stars event in New York City, gracing the carpet in a frothy, cream-colored Giambattista Valli gown. The floor-length gown, which is from the designer's Fall 2011 couture collection, features strong shoulders in layers of chiffon, a gold leaf belt, and a subtly sexy keyhole cutout— a confection in every sense of the word. It's a risky look that even has us Fab editors split down the middle on its allure. What did you think of Jess's dress?

Jessica Biel Has a Night of High Fashion and Big Shoulders!

Jessica Biel dressed up in a Giambattista Valli gown with huge pouf sleeves for Fashion Group International's 28th Annual Night of Stars at Cipriani Wall Street in NYC last night. Giambattista, Macy's collection just debuted Wednesday, joined Jessica on the red carpet, which also brought out a Jil Sander-clad Leelee Sobieski, newlyweds Lauren Bush and David Lauren, and heiress Daphne Guinness.

It was Jessica's second evening out on the town in a row, since she joined on-again boyfriend Justin Timberlake Wednesday for an event. Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake cuddled during a bash celebrating the redesign of his Southern Hospitality restaurant. JT and Jess were pictured getting close on a banquette that they shared with friends like Elton John and David Furnish.

The socializing may cease soon for Jessica if she nabs a role that she's in the running for. Jessica Biel could be in Burt Wonderstone, an upcoming comedy featuring Steve Carell and Jim Carrey as rival magicians, but other actresses like Olivia Wilde and Michelle Monaghan could also get the part.

Giambattista Valli For Macy's

With fans like Sarah Jessica Parker, Zoe Saldana, and Jessica Biel to name a few, it's safe to say Giambattista Valli is a favorite among the red carpet crowd. Lucky for us, the designer teamed up with Macy's and created a flirty collection set to debut Oct. 26. With the impending amount of holiday parties and cocktail hours to attend this season, the line, filled with leopard prints, ruffles, and metallic touches, comes at the perfect time. “This capsule reflects my enduring loves but is really a celebration of my biggest inspiration of all — the energy and vitality of women themselves," said Valli. "I love dressing them for all their happiest moments, making them feel as special as possible. This collection is a passport into my world and a chance to experience the passion and romance of my house and Paris itself." See our top three pieces from the collection below.
