Last week, I traveled to Mill Valley, just north of San Francisco, to tour the home of designer Heddie Chu. Half of design and architecture firm NC2 Studio, which she founded with her partner Russ Naylor, Heddie is also the force behind Emerald Fish. This online decor and jewelry gift shop features beautiful objects, many of which are Fair Trade or one-of-a-kind, which Heddie carefully selects from all over the world. Heddie is truly a world citizen with an eye for beauty. Born in Korea, she has lived in Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Paris, and London, though she now happily calls Mill Valley home. When I asked her what she loves most about her home and the way she has furnished it, she said, "It reflects Russ and me — our personalities and our travel memories buying the objects, but my favorite thing is the view of the mountains so I can meditate every morning." Take the tour to see that gorgeous view, as well as all of the beautiful corners of Heddie's home.
Outside a heavy wet snow fell, but inside American Eagle's New York showroom it felt like a beach in Costa Rica, complete with cute guys serving breakfast burritos. AE debuted its Summer collection with the theme "Take the new path," which we interpreted to mean the shortest path to the beach in some faraway place. It was a global-minded collection of casual, beachy separates and ethnic-inspired accessories. Embroidered peasant tops, baja knits, and sundresses are meant to be thrown over your bikini and layered with beaded necklaces, while your brightly woven bag will be filled with a wide-brim hat and a cute pair of espadrilles with a floral tie. We love the recurring global theme for Spring! Mark your calendars: the collection will hit stores beginning in April.
Model Iman's collaboration with HSN is still going strong but her latest pieces for her Global Chic line have made me take notice. I've never been one to spend a fortune on jewelry, and even if I could afford it, I would still seek out fabulous costume jewelry. If you're like me, be sure to check out Iman's jewels.
The latest selection mostly consists of bracelets, like this Golden Goddess Dangle Cuff ($65), and rings, with a few earrings and necklaces in the mix. Each piece is bold, fairly priced ($35 to $75), and sure to get tons of compliments.

Her new line, Global Chic, is inspired by African countries, India, and Bali, as well as pieces from her personal collection, including her vintage engagement ring from husband David Bowie. The line will be available HSN.com on Dec. 15.
There's no doubt about it, Mother Nature would be jealous of lebellanina and her hot earth mama wiles! Her dress is called the "Planet Dress," after all, and it's covered with etches of flowers and greenery. But she's not too earthy and crunchy for me: it's all about the Global chic, and lebellanina knows what's up.
Here's what she has on:
- Dress: Free People
- Locket: Urban Outfitters
- Shoes: Charlotte Russe
Congrats to lebellanina!
