In an Apartment Therapy house tour, I spotted this deep brownish-gray kitchen. While it certainly works with the aesthetic of the artsy, industrial loft, I don't think it would work for me! I'm too much of a color fanatic to go with a shade this dark in my kitchen. Plus, I love white kitchens! How about you?
Since I wrote my slideshows on how to decorate with gray and with yellow, I've been on a major gray and yellow kick, and I'm considering using those colors in a palette for one of my rooms. So as a start, I thought I'd see what gray and yellow artwork is out there. Obviously having more than two colors in a painting or a print will give it more depth and visual interest, so it's not limited to just these hues! Let's take a look.

Oh, Monet. You're relatively incognito, but when you do show your face — and bod — it's refreshing and ultra styley. The actress did some shopping in London in a casual gray monochrome 'fit. Her gold-studded Topshop sweater already has me obsessed, and her faded gray jeans are rugged chic. I've died and gone to gray heaven. My everyday neutral has been sexified by model Selita Ebanks, designer Haider Ackermann, and actress Paula Patton. They are all wrapped in gray, and I'm wrapped in envy. While gray is the perfect canvas for a colorful accessory, here it stands alone just fine. While the color may be safe, the cuts are anything but; ruched, draped, asymmetrical, slit, and one-shouldered, the party never ends. If you're seeking one dress to take you through the season, look no further.
You may remember Julianne Moore's living room, which was featured in Domino, and which she actually designed herself. That's right: the girl's got talent that extends beyond the silver screen and into her silver sitting room! Proof of that design skill set is Moore's very own West Village townhouse, which is on the market for $12 million.
The late 1800s home has been meticulously renovated, retaining original architectural details like crown moldings and wide plank floors, but was updated with the latest modern amenities. Moore chose my favorite color as of late — gray — as a base for several rooms. Overall, the rooms look well-traveled (heavy on the Japanese designs), a bit rustic, and comfortably polished. Who knows where she's moving, but suspicion tells me she's looking for another design project. Prepare to salivate when you see photos . . .

Everyone's talking about the '80s power dressing revival — been there, done that. Let's dig a little deeper, shall we? Starting with my favorite neutral: gray day. Gray has a natural way of appearing modern, sporty, and versatile. Take this Versace gown; it is all of the above, with a strict serving of sex appeal. Gray days are meant for a mellow life, and yet they still deliver a strong statement. Happy gray day.
