The ICB by Prabal Gurung Fall '13 show didn't give into the rain outside Lincoln Center, sending a parade of sleek looks down the runway. While his namesake collection focused on militant glamour, Gurung's foray into the contemporary market showcased a more downtown girl aesthetic via chunky wool knits, crisp separates, and a splash of fresh geo and graphic prints. Striking the perfect balance between hard and soft, the designer paired sharp blazers with slouchy silk trousers, cozy oversize sweaters with flounced leather skirts, and a range of flirtier dresses with bold, zipper embellished belts. Adding a rich textural element to the mix, Gurung supplied a few multicolored jacquard pieces — we especially loved the crop trousers — and an exciting array of outerwear. The latter, highlighted a range of structured, oversize coats featuring luxurious fur detailing, and refined trompe l'oeil wool jackets. ICB by Prabal Gurung Spring 2013
A life in the fast lane requires clothes that can move from day to night at a moment's notice, and that's what Prabal Gurung focused on offering with his Spring 2013 collection for ICB. (The other efficient thing about this collection? It was staged as a digital fashion show, so editors could watch it from the comfort of their homes or offices.)

But back to the clothes. Gurung took brights, neons, and whimsical prints and applied them to professional gear. A red-and-black printed suit stood out among Gurung's favorite pieces from the collection, and he noted the ease with which many of its dresses could be made office-appropriate with the addition of a jacket.

"Versatility is something that's really important in this collection," Gurung said.

ICB by Prabal Gurung Fall 2012
Prabal Gurung took the designing reins for International Concept Brand (ICB) this season, and we got to soak up the colorful benefits by way of the designer's digital fashion show presentation. The verdict? It's a cool blend of bold kaleidoscope-print dresses, tough-girl moto jackets, tuxedo-style blazers, ombré lace shirtdresses, and ultra-cool accessories. Translation: we want it all. Prabal's ICB girl is "witty and intelligent with an astute sense of the world"; this design ethos came through in gorgeous fluid fabrics, an overt juxtaposition of hard and soft styling, and, most of all, its affordable luxury appeal. "I didn't want to compromise on the quality, I want someone to look at this collection and feel really great. She [the ICB by Prabal Gurung girl] has innate good taste and this is a stepping stone to what I have to offer in my main collection," the designer said. The accessibility paired with impeccable tailoring, bright palette, and downtown-chic vibe make for a totally wearable lineup of looks, perfect for Fall '12 and beyond.
- Trends: Kaleidoscope-print silk dresses, tuxedo-style blazers, bold hues, and oversized capes.
- Colors: Colorful mixes of fuchsia, green, yellow, black, and red; ombré gradations.
- Key Piece: The juxtaposition of hard and soft across the board, but we can't get enough of the graphic-print dresses paired with tougher moto jackets.
- Accessories: Bright saddle bags, moto-inspired boots, and leather gloves.
- Who Would Wear It: Cool girls who prefer edgy accents à la Mila Kunis, Zoe Saldana, and Rooney Mara.
