Witness the History of the Bowl Cut

Last year, we talked about the possibility of the bowl cut making a return, and guess what?
Celebrities With Bowl Haircuts

Last year, we talked about the possibility of the bowl cut making a return, and guess what? Lots of celebrities have been sporting their own version of the old-school style over the past few months. But the new version of the bowl cut isn't of The Three Stooges ilk. The newer adaptations range from stylized pixies to hipster-esque mullets to rounded wedge cuts or bobs. Find out what I mean about this blunt-banged look now.

>> Model Update: Who's Walking, Who's Not —'90s Calvin Klein model Jenny Shimizu made a runway return, closing the John Bartlett runway on Wednesday — the designer told The Daily of Shimizu: "[She's] really a muse for me. She depicts the kind of woman that I'm dressing. It's no frills, no high heels, no beading, no ruffles."  And Jessica Miller is also said to be coming back to the runway. Irina Lazareanu, meanwhile, should be in a couple of front rows, but she's not walking, save for the runway appearance she made for Fashion for Relief this evening.  Ali Stephens, too, is only walking a few shows because she's "not the typical skinny — I have hips. I love my body but I’m not one of the girls willing to starve themselves for fashion, so I do what shows I can but I don’t, pressure myself to fit into the sample sizes."  Stephens doesn't plan to go to Milan or London Fashion Weeks.  [Style File, @nextmodelsnyc, Modelinia, @Modelinia, The Cut]

Vanessa Paradis and Kate Bosworth Gush About Their Men

Vanessa Paradis played host at last night's special dinner celebrating Chanel's new Rouge Coco de Chanel lipsticks.

Vanessa Paradis played host at last night's special dinner celebrating Chanel's new Rouge Coco de Chanel lipsticks. Kate Bosworth also put on one of Karl Lagerfeld's designs for the event, which brought out a crowd including Rachel Zoe, Nina Garcia, and more. The attendees are gearing up for Fashion Week, which starts tomorrow, but Vanessa and Kate had love on the mind before Valentine's Day. Vanessa made a rare comment on her longtime love, Johnny Depp, saying, "I like him very much in all terms and every sense of the way . . . He makes me happy. We are many things — we are together and, in a way, one person."

Kate, meanwhile, was all about her own guy, Alexander Skarsgard, despite arriving at the bash with socialite and Born Rich director Jamie Johnson. "We are very good friends," she said of Alex. "He's a wonderful, wonderful man. I adore him." The stylish crowd moved on after their meal to the club Good Units for Interview magazine's 40th anniversary party, where Kate was spotted letting loose with Vogue writer Derek Blasberg as Chloe Sevigny, Mary-Kate Olsen, and her boyfriend Nate Lowman danced nearby.

Bienvenidos a Barcelona Fashion Week, Spring/Summer '10

Bienvenidos a Barcelona Fashion Week, Spring/Summer '10

I'll be visiting Barcelona soon, so naturally Barcelona Fashion Week is especially enticing to me right now. Over three days, Spanish designers like Zazo & Brull, Matthew Ames, and Estrella Archs debuted their fresh Spring/Summer '10 collections. Hot model Dree Hemingway made a catwalk appearance at the Teresa Helbig show, while Irina Lazareanu debuted a cropped 'do at Mikio Sakabe. I'm particularly drawn to this red Zazo & Brull dress Marina Peres wore down the runway. It has red carpet written all over it. There are many more stunning looks, so take a quick escape to Barcelona.

Irina Lazareanu, who has been in full-on hiatus mode, skipping both the Spring 2009 and Fall 2009 runways save for a couple of turns during couture in January, is back in Miles Aldridge's technicolored "Dreamy."  And Suvi Koponen, who skipped the Fall 2009 runways to travel the world, returns to major editorial ground showcasing what she does best — pose — in Richard Burbridge's "A Summer Blend."  Not to mention Sasha Pivovarova's return to Vogue Italia cover territory, Moroccan-style.

Giambattista Valli

>> INSIDER WIRE —Before McBeha there was "Frina," the ambiguous pairing — or perhaps just the result of backstage boredom — of Freja Beha Erichsen and Irina Lazareanu, which produced quite a few pictures of the two caught up in the moment and being playful (NSFW).  Last night, Irina — who's back in Paris doing the modeling thing — found a new partner for play: Mischa Barton.  They were out celebrating Mischa's birthday with Giambattista Valli and Olivier Theyskens — who must not be too worried about his current situation, because he had a big smile on his face.
