Isabel Marant is a perennial cool-girl favorite, and her Fall 2013 collection went straight to the heart of rocker-chic. With a heavy-metal lashing of studs on cropped jackets, low-slung wrap skirts, and long skinny scarves, models like Arizona Muse showed off a parade of black, white, cream, and navy. Marant went deep into sexier knitwear this season, focusing on a second-skin shape with cutouts just above the bustline. As for her much-loved shoes, it was all about the wedge boot — ankle-high and knee-high in lush suede and sometimes clad with biker-like straps. Click through to see the full collection.
The sneaker trend has spread through Hollywood like wildfire. Miranda Kerr, Jessica Alba, Naomi Watts, Jessica Biel, and so many more of our favorite stars have wholeheartedly embraced the sporty style, and for that we're forever thankful — not only are they cool, but so comfy, too. Parisian designer Isabel Marant was at the forefront of the sneaker craze (see Miranda and Jessica rocking two of her styles above), but now there's a new sneaker king in town: the Nike Dunk Sky Hi, which Naomi and Biel have been wearing. The price point for Isabel Marant's styles are on the higher side (upwards of $500), while Nike's are more affordable (around $120). But dollar signs aside, we want to know, whose sneakers do you prefer — Isabel Marant or Nike?
On her way into her Santa Monica office, Jessica Alba showed off a casual look that was a happy marriage between sporty and chic — a mix we've been trying to master ever since sneakers became acceptable outside of the gym. The actress kept her style sophisticated thanks to these green houndstooth jeans by Big Star ($106), then pulled in laid-back flair with her black high-top Isabel Marant sneakers. Jessica completed her outfit with a two-toned Gerard Darel coat and two bags: an envelope-style crossbody and a black perforated satchel. Score Jessica's exact houndstooth jeans to work with high-top sneakers (just like she did) or pair them with a silky blouse and pumps for a work-appropriate spin. For a night out, we'd match these printed jeans with a leather tee and killer heels.
Like us, our favorite stars are obsessed with sneakers — the kind you probably won't sport at the gym. Can you blame them? These kicks are the comfiest way to turn our just-running-errands outfits into something a lot cooler. But that's not all they're good for — high-tops have also proved a perfect alternative to heels for a night out. The proof of their styling power is right here: looks from Kate Bosworth, Jessica Alba, Naomi Watts, and more of the celebrity crowd who have been working the trendy footwear into a myriad of slick ensembles. This is your chance to steal the look — and shop your own pair. Just click on for a celebrity lookbook brimming with inspiration, then be sure to shop our editors' picks.
While running errands around LA (on more than one day in a row), Jennifer Garner showed off her brand-new shoes: these Isabel Marant Basley black suede tassel booties ($600), which also come in camel and white. At first glance, we thought they were high-top sneakers, but upon closer inspection, we realized they're actually a cross between a sneaker and a bootie — genius! While the price tag is rather steep, we think these booties are worth the investment for a few reasons. First, they're by Isabel Marant, so they're automatically cool in our eyes. Second, they look super comfy. And third, they might just be the new shoe trend of the year (stay tuned). Side note: we also love the way Jennifer wore her new shoes, with a boyish blazer, a plaid blouse, skinny jeans, and a white scarf. All in all, it's a head-to-toe outfit win.
Victoria's Secret model Lily Aldridge strolled NYC with baby Dixie wearing this cozy and cool Étoile Isabel Marant knit printed cardigan ($570). Underneath it, she sported a basic white V-neck tee and, on bottom, a pair of jodhpur skinny jeans. For accessories, Lily chose these Chloé studded buckle booties ($1,345) and brown sunglasses. Score her exact cardigan — or this less-expensive BB Dakota aztec cardigan ($105) — to create a similarly cozy Winter look.
Miranda Kerr and Flynn Bloom hit the gym together in LA wearing matching striped tops. The model opted for a black-and-white striped v-neck tee, black leggings, and black Isabel Marant high-top sneakers. She then kicked up her workout style via this black Givenchy satchel ($2,405) and retro-style round sunglasses. Whether you're heading to the gym or just running errands, mimic Miranda's look by matching a classic striped tee with black leggings, high-top sneakers, then finishing off with a statement designer bag and shades.
Just like their trusty beanies, celebrities are loyal to their favorite outerwear during Winter. And each has been sporting unique styles to reflect their personal styles. Along with her navy Balenciaga coat, Katie Holmes has also been spotted in a double-breasted Isabel Marant coat, while Ashlee Simpson has been covering up in a puffer coat by Sandro and Sophia Bush in classic gray. If you're in need of a fabulous coat to keep you warm, step inside to draw inspiration from seven stylish celebs and their outerwear picks.
Although Winter has just begun, our favorite fashionable celebs have been vacationing at some of the most beautiful beaches and donning some seriously chic warm-weather looks. Julianne Hough worked a breezy island-ready combo while shopping in St. Barts, Jessica Alba sported a punchy Isabel Marant tunic with a panama hat in Cabo, and Michelle Williams topped her black bandeau bikini with a chambray shirt and classic shades in Mexico. If you're heading to a tropical destination or just getting a jump-start on planning your Summer adventures, be sure to mimic these two celeb-approved resort looks.
Eva Mendes went grocery shopping in LA, wearing a casual cool outfit that proves that the high-top sneaker trend is going strong through 2013. The actress started her look with a navy sweater and a black tank, then finished with torn boyfriend jeans and these Isabel Marant sneakers ($640). For accessories, she carried a vintage-inspired tan crossbody bag and black cat-eye sunglasses. Mimic Eva's latest look by matching up your boyfriend jeans with sneakers, then get cozy up top with your favorite sweater.
