The winner and runners-up of the 2012 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund have created capsule collections for J.Crew that will launch later this month.

The Elder Statesman's Greg Chait — who won this year's prize — Tabitha Simmons, and Jennifer Meyer have all created limited-edition products for the retailer, which will be available on J.Crew's website starting May 22. But on May 8, shoppers who can't wait that long will be able to sign up for access to shop the collaborations one day early.

J.Crew's collaborations with winners of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund are becoming a bit of a tradition. Last year, the brand played host to capsules from Joseph Altuzarra, Pamela Love, and Creatures of the Wind. In 2011, it sold exclusive wares from Prabal Gurung, Eddie Borgo, and Billy Reid.

Stay tuned for more details and pictures from this year's trio of capsule collections.

J.Crew Fall 2013

J.Crew is really taking its spot on the Fashion calendar seriously.
J.Crew Review | Fashion Week Fall 2013

J.Crew is really taking its spot on the Fashion calendar seriously. Not only does the company host one of the most anticipated presentations of the week, but now it's showing clothes that are just begging to be snapped by the hoards of street-style photographers that wait outside the Lincoln Center gates. Oversize clutches in neon hues, sweaters and dresses decorated in a frenzy of mixed Moroccan prints, and oversize coats blinged out in sparkling gemstones — all were present at the brand's packed Fall 2013 presentation on Tuesday, and all were dreamy enough to make even the most jaded fashion fans drool.

J.Crew Fall 2013 Runway

J.Crew turned it up to 11 for Fall 2013, thanks to creative director Jenna Lyons's deft touch with color and pattern mixing inspired by a recent trip to Marrakech.

J.Crew turned it up to 11 for Fall 2013, thanks to creative director Jenna Lyons's deft touch with color and pattern mixing inspired by a recent trip to Marrakech. Neon citron mingled with bubblegum pink, while a clean Winter-white sweater and pants provided a palate cleanser. Accessories were a highlight with sexy lace-up pumps, jeweled minaudières, and piles of colored crystal jewelry. Printed pants continued to look fresh mixed with chunky knits under double-breasted coats with ornate detailing. The crowd was abuzz with excitement — and not just because a fresh-faced Julianne Moore moved among the editors viewing the collection.

  • Trends: Metallics, decadent embellishments, statement coats, Bermuda shorts.
  • Who should wear it: Who wouldn't want to wear this collection? If we had to choose, Michelle Obama (of course) and fashion girls who crave a little color and shimmer like Zoe Saldana, Kate Bosworth, and Chloë Moretz.
  • Fabrics: Cashmere, jacquard, silk, wool.
  • Shoes: Metallic double ankle-strap point-toe pumps, printed round-toe pumps, strappy suede pumps.
  • Editors' pick: We loved this lavender look comprising metallic jacquard trousers, a cozy cable-knit sweater, and a gorgeous tailored coat.

All the bits fit to print here, in our daily news roundup.

  • Dita Von Teese has some wise words to avoid style ridicule: "You can be a juicy, ripe peach, and there's still going to be someone who doesn't like peaches, so you can either submit to someone's criticism of you, or you can get on with the business of being your own amazing self who attracts other like-minded people that appreciate you." [XOJane]

  • Olivier Rousteing's fail-safe hangover remedy begins at McDonald's: "I buy nine nuggets, barbeque sauce, a burger, McFlurry, and potatoes. I swear when you get out of the club at 6 or 7, and you wait a bit till McDonald's opens, that’s the best cure." [Fashionista]
