>> Andrew Rosen, who has invested in Rag & Bone and Alice & Olivia and hired Olivier Theyskens at Theory, was rumored to be circulating an investment in Proenza Schouler back in March. Not much has been heard about it since, but last night at Fashion Group International’s annual Night of Stars awards gala, Eric Wilson reports: "There was a little intrigue in the audience. Among the guests at the Proenza Schouler table, where [Jack] McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez sat with Anna Wintour between them, was Andrew Rosen, the Theory executive, who has reportedly expressed interest in taking a stake in the company." Opening Ceremony Hawking One-of-a-Kind Fall 2010 Proenza Schouler Runway Shoes

>> Proenza Schouler recently sent flat sandals down its Spring 2011 runway.

>> Proenza Schouler recently sent flat sandals down its Spring 2011 runway. "Sensible shoes," noted Lazaro Hernandez. "Tranny shoes feel old, everyone's wearing them." But that wasn't the case for the amped-up platform oxfords seen on its Fall runway, which apparently aren't going into production. Opening Ceremony has six pairs of the one-of-a-kind shoes, straight off the runway. They range $750 to $1,000 and come in size 39 or 41. [@openingceremony]

Proenza Schouler Goes Lady-Like — But With Tie Dye and Neon — for Spring 2011

>> After last season's school girl-inspired kicky mini skirts, thigh highs, and varsity jackets, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez were ready to do "something a little more polished, maybe grown-up in a way, but our way," the latter explained.

>> After last season's school girl-inspired kicky mini skirts, thigh highs, and varsity jackets, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez were ready to do "something a little more polished, maybe grown-up in a way, but our way," the latter explained. “We’d gone as short as we could, and as body-conscious as we could . . . So we took all these feminine codes — the embroideries, the flowers — and mixed them up in our own way."

Welcome the pink tweedy suits, the salmon matte croc coat, the ladylike pumps — no platforms — and the lingerie done in collaboration with Jean Yu (who also worked with Rag & Bone this season), allowing for a little covering up, a novel thought in this season of sheer. Also a surprise: flats on the Proenza Schouler runway, in sandal and knee-high gladiator form. But it wouldn't be a Proenza collection of late without a little fluoro — and it came aplenty, in acid green, pink, orange, and cobalt. Textures were complex in this collection — the first few pieces to come out had what Cathy Horyn termed the texture of "a freshly clipped poodle; no, a cauliflower; no, finer!" — and the label's trademark tie dye was reimagined this time with the ancient form of Japanese shibori.

Interesting to note: Victoria Traina was indeed listed as creative consultant on this collection, and Theory's Andrew Rosen — who was rumored earlier this year to be circling an investment in Proenza — was front row, just as rumors resurface that Rosen is looking to buy the brand from European private equity fund Permira.

Vanessa Traina and Proenza Schouler Make Waves

We're big fans of Proenza Schouler and Vanessa Traina, so you can imagine our excitement when we heard the two joined forces to show off ProenzaSchouler.com's Limited-Edition Tie-Dye Tank.

We're big fans of Proenza Schouler and Vanessa Traina, so you can imagine our excitement when we heard the two joined forces to show off ProenzaSchouler.com's Limited-Edition Tie-Dye Tank. No doubt, Vanessa looks every bit the beach babe in Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez's pink tie-dyed confection. Each tank retails at $175 — $100 cheaper than its original tie-dye tank. Still pricey, but it might be worth it to own a piece of Proenza . . .

The 2010 CFDA Awards Are Here! Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, Jason Wu Take Home Wins

>> This evening at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall, fashion's finest gathered for the 2010 CFDA Awards.

>> This evening at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall, fashion's finest gathered for the 2010 CFDA Awards. Jak & Jil's Tommy Ton snapped photos of the arrivals, J.Crew's Jenna Lyons introduced herself to Isabel Toledo, and the ever-punctual Anna Wintour was later than usual, appearing after the pre-awards cocktails were in full swing.

Wintour put on her signature shades for the ceremony itself, but off they came when International Award winner Christopher Bailey thanked her (along with Tom Ford and Donna Karan) — in fact, she was beaming. Later, she got on stage to present Michael Kors with his Lifetime Achievement Award — he received a standing ovation — and told a story about how she went on a trip to Jamaica with Kors; when Ralph Lauren arrived, Kors got in the ocean and stayed there for hours because he didn't want Lauren to see him in his swimsuit.

Speaking of Lauren, he received the Popular Vote for the second year running — although he wasn't in attendance this evening. Sarah Jessica Parker, dressed in a custom gown by new Alexander McQueen creative director Sarah Burton, presented Lee Alexander McQueen posthumously with the Special Tribute Award, noting that the designer had "the most beautiful hands I've ever seen," before models took the stage in the designer's last works.

Accepting her Fashion Icon Award, Iman thanked her parents for the longest neck on any model at any go-see in the world and joked to husband David Bowie: "Move over. You're not the only icon in the house." And finally, Marc Jacobs scored the Womenwear Award — he thanked bloggers for his win and said to Robert Duffy: "i want to thank [Duffy], without you this dream would never have come true."

And the winners are . . . (nominees here):

  • Accessory Designer of the Year: Alexis Bittar
  • Popular Vote Award: Ralph Lauren
  • Menswear Designer of the Year: Marcus Wainwright and David Neville for Rag & Bone
  • Swarovski Award for Menswear: Richard Chai
  • Swarovski Award for Womenswear: Jason Wu
  • Swarovski Award for Accessories: Alexander Wang
  • Womenswear Designer of the Year: Marc Jacobs
