Nail art is alive and well backstage at countless shows this New York Fashion Week, and the moon manicure is clearly a trend for Spring 2014. The "floating nail art" from Lela Rose (pictured above) featured a bare nail with a soft blue moon painted at the base of the nail. We also saw reverse moon manicures, where the moon shape was painted on the tips of the nails. So, when 2014 hits, know that nail art is still a trend; whatever color or style, the moon manicure is a no-fail option.
For Spring 2014, Jenni Kayne took her laid-back silhouettes on a boating trip. The nautical inspiration translated to stripes, a navy and white palette, and above-deck-worthy tailoring as far as the eye could see. True to form, the most crisp of styles still had the easy charm Kayne does best, with pastel pink and edgy prints punctuating the collection with a vibe that'd be just as at home in the city as out to sea!
It doesn't get more chic than Jenni Kayne, fashion designer, founder of kid street-style site Ladys & Gents, and mom to two little ones. We recently featured Jenni's son Tanner's hip pirate birthday bash, and now it's her daughter Ripley's turn to party!
"Ripley absolutely loves pigs and bunnies, so a country fair for the ladies felt like the perfect theme," Jenni says of her daughter's second birthday party. "Not knowing exactly what my version of a country fair looked like, I was inspired by the different parties that I found on Pinterest and ran with it." Wildflower arrangements, homemade pies and cakes, fair games like a ringtoss and sack races, and, of course, Ripley's much-adored farm animals all made an appearance at this old-fashioned party. Keep reading to check out the most stylish county fair around!
Jenni Kayne is not only a successful fashion designer and one of the founders of chic kid street-style site Ladys & Gents. She's also a mom to two little ones, including Tanner, who recently celebrated a birthday!
"For Tanner's fourth birthday, all he wanted was a pirate party," Jenni says. "We all channeled our inner pirate, which made the party that much more festive! I loved seeing all the kids in their adorable costumes. Most importantly, Tanner had so much fun and has been sleeping with a pirate's chest ever since." Check out all the highlights (tons of pirate-inspired decor, a face painter, and even the "real" Jack Sparrow), all of which, of course, have a hip spin thanks to Tanner's superstylish mama!

Rebecca Gayheart spent time with daughter Billie in LA looking casual and cute in a navy and white polka-dot blouse and maroon skinny jeans. We love the color combination, as well as the mix of prints and solid. For accessories, the actress sported these navy suede Jenni Kayne flats ($415), aviator sunglasses, and a gray fringe scarf. Re-create Rebecca's look by scoring her exact flats and pairing them with this similar Tylho polka-dot blouse ($129) and these Hudson bordeaux skinny jeans ($183).
A series of colorful garments tinged with surf culture formed the bulk of Jenni Kayne's Spring 2013 collection. Kayne staged an intimate presentation and talked with editors and other guests while a team of three models posed in a selection of impeccably tailored suit separates and dresses whose colors (sunny yellow and saturated pink) echoed vivid seaside sunsets. A colorblocked dress and jacket combined deep shades of red, blue, and orange in an unexpectedly pleasant mix, while stripes of varying widths covered black and white trousers, shirts, and skirts. The designer's surfing inspiration touched other garments a little more literally: a sporty gray jacket with a drawstring waist and a midriff-baring sleeveless top, in what Kayne's show notes called an "ethnic inspired print," were perfectly primed for the beach.
Drawing inspiration from her home turf, LA-based Jenni Kayne served up a chic, surf-inspired lineup for Spring '13. Minimalist silhouettes were dipped in bright hues as Kayne presented sharp neon-yellow blazers, Navajo-printed crop tops, and even a red-carpet-worthy hot-pink silk gown. Kayne's play on tailored cuts purveyed a menswear touch, further exemplified with crisp shirtdresses and striped oxford shirts. Meanwhile, striped pants and tops made for an effortless yet eye-catching statement while tweed shiftdresses and short suits spoke to her casual cool style. The designer also brought back her popular d'orsay flats in a new assortment of pretty jewel-tone hues. In the end, it was all about the designer's laid-back attitude — with a refined twist — and you can't help but to want to move to the West Coast to live the same lifestyle.
