Jennifer and Joan Do the Covered-Up Sexy Thing — but Who Got It Right?

Who knew full coverage could be so sexy?

Who knew full coverage could be so sexy? While some of last night's Met Gala attendees opted for microminis and dangerously low necklines, Jennifer Lopez and model Joan Smalls went a different route, both swapping short and sweet for sheer, long, and seriously rocker chic. Joan arrived on the arm of Tom Ford in a black lace gown from the designer's Fall 2013 collection — an ornate creation that left little to the imagination — which she accessorized with a single gold razor blade earring. Jennifer Lopez brought along not one, but two handsome escorts: her boyfriend, Casper Smart, as well as her designer date, Michael Kors. Jennifer's gown boasted a revealing back cutout and sequined giraffe print, and perfectly complemented her famous curves. It's clear that both Jennifer and Joan got the long-sleeved, sheer-gown memo — but which of them got it right?

Tom Ford had model Joan Smalls on his arm last night on their way into the Punk: Chaos to Couture Met Gala in NYC.

Tom Ford had model Joan Smalls on his arm last night on their way into the Punk: Chaos to Couture Met Gala in NYC. Not one to have dressed punk himself, Tom talked about the trend and how it inspired him — or didn't — when it came to creating a look for Joan. And as for Tom's own edgy phase, he wasn't giving much away. He did, however, reveal his most ingenious use of a safety pin.

Rosie, Joan, and Kate Lead This Week's Top 10

We kicked off the week with the Time 100 Gala, were treated to film premieres and parties in between, and closed it out with a Vogue-hosted dinner in London last night.

We kicked off the week with the Time 100 Gala, were treated to film premieres and parties in between, and closed it out with a Vogue-hosted dinner in London last night. Suffice it to say, celebrities have had ample opportunity to show off a range of glamorous eventwear — and they've taken it. From Kate Hudson's hot-pink heels and leather for an appearance in NYC to Joan Smalls's little white dress and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's knockout Michael Kors, it's a lesson in dressing of the very chicest kind. Joan, Dree, and Alexa Are Chanel-Perfect at the Label's TFF Dinner

You can count on two things at Chanel's annual Tribeca Film Festival Artists Dinner: style setters of the A-list variety and lots of Chanel.

You can count on two things at Chanel's annual Tribeca Film Festival Artists Dinner: style setters of the A-list variety and lots of Chanel. Those were the common denominators at last night's festivities, where the dinner party was a real-life runway for Karl Lagerfeld's recent collections. Who better to showcase the designer's wares than guests (and real-life models) Joan Smalls, Alexa Chung, and Dree Hemingway. Joan's supermodel stems were on display in a gray tweed jumpsuit from the label's Pre-Spring '13 collection. Alexa exuded her signature charm in a creamy Chanel minidress from the Spring '13 line and cap-toe Mary Janes, then finished it all off with a bright red lip. Dree opted for a more colorful confection, choosing a pastel minidress from the Resort '13 line, and styled it up with a white button-down underneath and a pair of black and white brogues for a tomboy twist. This fashion-conscious set gave us Chanel three ways — now it's up to you to decide who did it best. Who gets your vote?

H&M's New Model-Inspired Lineup Does Cool-Girl Style to a T

Along with the retailer's Coachella-ready Divided wares, H&M is launching The New Icons, a collection inspired by its campaign models, Joan Smalls, Liu Wen, Lindsey Wixson, and Daphne Groeneveld.

Along with the retailer's Coachella-ready Divided wares, H&M is launching The New Icons, a collection inspired by its campaign models, Joan Smalls, Liu Wen, Lindsey Wixson, and Daphne Groeneveld. And, as you may have guessed by the source of inspiration, the clothes prove just as cool as the ladies wearing them. With a rocker edge that reminds us of Givenchy-meets-Joan-Jett appeal, and a romantic Americana slant that's more Ralph Lauren in the '90s, the latest batch of H&M clothes offers up an easy "road map" for emulating a similar brand of cool-girl styling. We're particularly drawn to the silver-embellished black vest, cream-colored ruffle lace miniskirt, and the drawstring bucket bag both Smalls and Wixson show off in the campaign. Here's your first look at The New Icons collection — available in stores in early April — right this way.

Paris Fashion Week: The Best Beauty Looks Up Close

Paris Fashion Week Fall 2013 has come and gone, and while the Parisian runways are usually full of avant-garde beauty, this year there were also plenty of low-key hair and makeup looks to inspire.

Paris Fashion Week Fall 2013 has come and gone, and while the Parisian runways are usually full of avant-garde beauty, this year there were also plenty of low-key hair and makeup looks to inspire. Full brows, bare faces, and low ponytails took over the runways, but bright pops of color made their mark as well. Caged masks, fuzzy helmet hats, and zombie-like face paint even took their turns on the catwalks. See all the looks in today's Beauty Beat. On Kirbie: Zara dress.

Joan Smalls put her left leg on display in a one-shoulder gown with a waist-high slit, Kate Moss went sheer in a Saint Laurent creation topped with a tuxedo blazer, while Jessica Chastain covered up in a formfitting, long-sleeved gown, and Jessica Alba got girlie in a textured one-shoulder minidress. Best of 2012: Model of the Year

Model of the year — it's a huge honor and one we can't crown without your help.

Model of the year — it's a huge honor and one we can't crown without your help. Without further ado, this year's gorgeous nominees are Karlie Kloss, Joan Smalls, Miranda Kerr, Cara Delevingne, and Alessandra Ambrosio. All five women are stunning in their own right and are known for different attributes. Karlie is all about that killer catwalk strut, Joan is full of fierce flavor, Miranda is simultaneously high fashion and mainstream, Cara is the breakout star with mesmerizing eyes, and no one can do sexy quite like Alessandra. But these models do all have something in common — they all happen to be Victoria's Secret Angels, too. With that, which beauty gets your vote for model of the year?

Victoria's Secret Afterparty Pictures 2012

The fun didn't end when the catwalk closed at last night's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. From there, the Angels traded their lingerie and wings for a bevy of sexy cocktail dresses, then headed to NYC's Lavo for the afterparty. There, the cast of Angels, including Karlie Kloss and Joan Smalls — who traded their runway looks for a sparkly silver number and a very sexy mesh mini — was joined by the night's big performers, like Justin Bieber and Rihanna, as well as a slew of celebrities who helped keep the party going. Poppy Delevingne stepped out to support sister Cara, while Alexa Chung and Vanessa Hudgens were on hand for all the festivities. Click on for all the photos — and of course, what all the models were wearing postshow.
