Smrithi is playing the part of fun gypsy today. I admit, her ensemble is not an easy one to pull off, but she does it flawlessly. I love those vivacious orange jodhpurs and how she tied her sandals over them. A basic white tank, Spring scarf, and a straw bag complete her bold, breezy outfit.

The item of clothing to put under the microscope from the Spring New York collections is the pants. Pant play has been creeping up on us — from Louis Vuitton's cropped and tailored trousers to Nina Ricci's silky pajama pants — but no item of clothing was rejiggered more than the pant. While Harem pants and slinky trousers have dramatic flair and seem to float down the runway, the real life wear is questionable. Case in point: Ralph Lauren's gold beaded pants. They are beautiful, no doubt, but would you wear these? I love sparkle and shine, and pants, so maybe I just need to warm up to the new notion.
The last time I asked you about these style pants, you all hated it. Baggy and saggy pants are definitely not for everyone but I dare you try it. So, how low would you go?
If you're swaying on the avant garde tip, I'd suggest you hone in your eccentric glamour with a pair of crotch dropping jodhpurs. If you're still on the fence — like me— try a more subdued version with a pair of crisp cropped baggy trousers like Phillip Lim's to the left. My only piece of advice: choose something that flatters your derrière. Have fun and be brave!
Jodhpurs
n. Men or women's fashion horse riding pant with side fullness and tight fit from knee to ankle. Often with leather inner leg patches. Though they are traditionally worn for horse riding, jodhpurs have recently been showing up on the runways.
