Marc Jacobs Is In Contract Renegotiations with Louis Vuitton; Bernard Arnault Has Veto Power on John Galliano's Dior Designs

>> Robert Duffy and Marc Jacobs are in the midst of negotiating the renewal of their respective contracts at Louis Vuitton, Duffy confirms.

>> Robert Duffy and Marc Jacobs are in the midst of negotiating the renewal of their respective contracts at Louis Vuitton, Duffy confirms. But he doesn't expect there to be any problems: “It’s just starting but, I mean, we both want to stay. I don’t think that’s any secret. When two people want to renew their vows, they do it usually.”

It sounds like the feeling is mutual from Louis Vuitton head Bernard Arnault. "I could have asked many other talented designers to do Dior, but it would not have been the same," Arnault told Tatler Asia. "Take Marc Jacobs, he has been a fantastic success at Vuitton, and he has a proximity to the Vuitton spirit, but I don't think it would have been a success with Jacobs at Dior and the other way around, if I had asked John [Galliano] to do Vuitton, it would not have worked. An essential ingredient in the success of the brand today is the real proximity of Galliano to the talent of Christian Dior." Arnault and Galliano meet at the LVMH offices in Paris to discuss each of Galliano's Dior collections before it is shown. "We meet in this room," explains Arnault. "I say, 'John, I think we should do something else. What you have done is too extravagant.' For Dior it's all about the details and John listens."

Taylor Momsen's Perfume Commercial Is Actually Nice

Don't know how this one initially slipped under our radar, but here's Taylor Momsen's video spot for John Galliano's latest fragrance, Parlez-Moi D'Amour.

Don't know how this one initially slipped under our radar, but here's Taylor Momsen's video spot for John Galliano's latest fragrance, Parlez-Moi D'Amour. And though my inner grumpy mom doesn't understand why this 17-year-old can't just find some pants already, I have to admit, the end result is a lot softer than what I expected. The background music is by Taylor's band, The Pretty Reckless, and director Ellen Von Unwerth gives the whole thing a sensual look. In case you missed it, here's Taylor's beauty evolution; you'll be surprised by how much she's changed.

John Galliano Explains Why He Wears Costumes to Take His Runway Bow

>> Every time he takes the runway for a bow, John Galliano dresses up; in the past, he's done swashbuckler, equestrian, a gumshoe, and an astronaut.

>> Every time he takes the runway for a bow, John Galliano dresses up; in the past, he's done swashbuckler, equestrian, a gumshoe, and an astronaut. There's a reason he does it, Galliano says — and it's not because he likes to dress up: "People always ask me about the clothes I wear on the runway. The attention should be on the collection — not my finale! I get so immersed in the world that I am creating that — like a method actor — I tune with the muse, the story and the collection so much so that I evolve into an homage to the world I have created." Natalie Portman Joins John and Leighton to Celebrate Dior

Natalie Portman, Leighton Meester, Liv Tyler, and Amy Adams came together last night to christen Dior's newly reopened 57th Street boutique in NYC. Natalie, who was wearing a dress from the high-end brand, took a break from promoting Black Swan to kick back for an evening of fashion and cocktails with designer John Galliano. Portman is an award season favorite already and joined other statue-hopefuls like Bardem, Damon, and Franco for an artsy NY Times Magazine spread. Leighton Meester arrived wearing another dark look, though this time she traded the androgynous trend for a flirty flair. Leighton's a big fan of Dior makeup, but it's her contract with Herbal Essences that got the Gossip Girl star talking about hair and beauty as well as dishing the dirt on her Country Strong costar Gwyneth Paltrow. Gwyneth's live performance during the CMA Awards got fans excited for the holiday release of their film and made our top 10 list of the most memorable TV moments of the year.

Olivier Theyskens Rumored to Have Turned Down Top Jobs at Valentino, Christian Dior

>> Rumors have Olivier Theyskens waiting to take over at Lanvin in 2012, but how about some rumors on top of rumors?

>> Rumors have Olivier Theyskens waiting to take over at Lanvin in 2012, but how about some rumors on top of rumors? Hint reports: "Remember years ago when Theyskens, at only 25, was interviewing at Givenchy and asked for a salary twice that of [Alexander] McQueen's when he started? (They refused.) Well, he's either a skilled negotiator or self-saboteur. We hear that in the last several years he's turned down the job at both Valentino — despite a fortune proposed by Marzotto Group — and Dior. And get this: it seems he turned down Dior not once, but twice. Why? Because, according to conventional wisdom, there is no life after Dior. Many see it as an ailing house and view John Galliano as a protege of Helene Arnault, wife of LVMH (and Dior) owner Bernard Arnault." [Hint]

Kate Moss Takes a Load Off During Her Morning of Posing at Dior

Kate Moss continued her fun times at Paris Fashion Week this morning by turning out to support her good friend John Galliano at his Dior show.

Kate Moss continued her fun times at Paris Fashion Week this morning by turning out to support her good friend John Galliano at his Dior show. She was decked out in her trademark black, but fellow attendee Rachel Bilson opted for a dress in bright red. Kate's arrival ended in a fight between photographers, but things were more calm for Rachel, who said of the flashbulbs, "It's not so bad, compared to Kate Moss! It's just that I can't see anything." Kate went from sitting in the front row to backstage, where she rested on a couch before giving air kisses to John. She may have needed to take a breather from the chaos after a late night yesterday of partying with Jamie Hince at French Vogue's 90th anniversary masquerade ball.
