  • Juergen Teller is meeting Cathy Horyn for a free, open to the public, discussion about his work at New York's Visual Arts Theater Sept. 12, 7 pm [On the Runway]

  • Zac Posen explains his move from the big Tent at Bryant Park to a smaller Altman Building show for 400: “For this collection, an intimacy between model, clothing and audience could only be achieved in a smaller space. I really enjoyed the experience of a more intimate show after Pre-Fall 2009, followed by our successful Resort 2010, which was held at my downtown atelier." [WWD]

Fab Finding Follow-Up: Boutique Opening Party

Have you ever been to a boutique opening party?
Alexander McQueen at ShopStyle

Have you ever been to a boutique opening party? They're so much fun. Meeting new people, rubbing elbows with local designers, and drinking free bubbly really tickles my fancy.

This weekend, my friend Jessica is throwing an opening party for her first boutique. It's going to be intimate and filled with special discounts — what more can a girl ask for? I asked you to help me find an outfit that will dazzle but won't steal the spotlight from my pal. I was looking for something artistic, funky, and modern. Let's see what you all came up with!

Look #1, created by EllaB, includes some amazing accessories. Check out those crazy heels!

Celebrity Style: Claudia Schiffer

On the heels of her Spring Yves Saint Laurent ad release, Claudia struts her supermodel stuff in a perfectly layered ensemble.

On the heels of her Spring Yves Saint Laurent ad release, Claudia struts her supermodel stuff in a perfectly layered ensemble. Her street style is absolutely admirable. While not everyone can pull off cropped pants and ankle boots — I only recommend that if you're tall and/or lanky — there are other creative things going on here. Her palette is totally Fall, her fur jacket is plush, and her bowed scarf adds a touch of aristocratic flair. You're not Super without big sunnies and a designer bag — local Brit Anya Hindmarch in this case. Keep on strutting, Claudia.

Trend Alert: Go Graphic or Go Home

My favorite Spring collection was Dries Van Noten.

My favorite Spring collection was Dries Van Noten. Graphic prints were an integral part of the eclectic collection. These calculated prints command attention and are stimulating to the eye. Celebrities have already dabbled in this cool trend and it's only going to grow. If you want to be ahead of the curve, go graphic or go home. What's more, circular and angular graphic prints stand alone — you can pair down the rest of your look. Fergie, in Tommy Hilfiger, funked up her graphic print dress with layered bracelets and blue suede sandals, while Tilda Swinton was purely polka doted in her silky Lanvin.

Julie Haus Is in the House

Being a "Haus frau" is a very good thing.

Being a "Haus frau" is a very good thing. Just ask Leighton Meester and Molly Sims, who showed up for Julie Haus's first-ever New York runway show. The intimate affair featured bright colors, bold prints, and a few cute dresses that I wouldn't mind wearing in the hot sun right now.

The hair and makeup were fresh and fun, with a hint of rebellious streak thrown in for good measure. "It's a little messy, yet kind of neat," said Dwight O'Neal, who created the makeup look for The Balm. "It's the everyday woman doing her makeup. We didn't want anything too dramatic or too perfect." Check out the lips to see what he means; to get the look, O'Neal's team dabbed Prom Queen Stainiac on the center of the lips, then filled in the remainder of the lips with Plump Your Pucker gloss in Cocoa My Coconut. Instead of using a brush to spread the color, makeup artists used their fingers — easy!

Back to Cool: Clueless

In high school, it's all about boys, popularity, and clothes.

In high school, it's all about boys, popularity, and clothes. Yep, sounds about right. No movie portrayed that better than Clueless. In her most outstanding role, Alicia Silverstone played Cher, and along with her BF Dione, took newbie Tai under their wings and transformed her into one of the most coveted girls in school. All it took was a couple knee-high socks, short plaid skirts, platform pumps, and a Beverly Hills attitude. See, it's so easy to go from clueless to coolness. As if!

Julie Haus Boardwalk Dress: Love It or Hate It?

Too much of a good thing?

Too much of a good thing? That question came to mind when I looked at this Julie Haus Boardwalk Dress ($355). I like all of the individual elements — the buttons, pleats, sweetheart neckline, and the bright blue color — but the combination of it all looks strange and too busy. What do you think?
