>> Chanel and New York's Museum of Modern Art honored Pedro Almodovar last night at the museum's annual film benefit. “Everyone loves Pedro Almodóvar,” Karl Lagerfeld said of the lengthy guest list. “He is a genius.”
>> Last year, H&M shot models Liya Kebede, Stella Tennant, Kasia Struss, Mariacarla Boscono, Du Juan, and Fei Fei Sun with their family members and friends for its holiday campaign. It looks like the retailer is going for the same concept again this holiday season: see Georgia May Jagger and her mom, Jerry Hall; Kristen McMenamy and her sons; and Karen Elson and her fraternal twin sister, Kate Elson, in a preview of this year's set, shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.
>> Karen Elson's particular breed of Victorian-rocker irreverence meets accessories for a limited-edition collaboration with Nine West Vintage America, now available online. Launched last night with an exclusive fete — where Elson serenaded the crowd in a country-tinged acoustic set — the collection features a jazzed-up assortment of granny boots, tapestry frame bags, and peep-toe platform wedges. “My dream of designing a collection that’s a true reflection of me has now come to life through this collaboration,” Elson explained. Infused with a bit of Dust Bowl-era grittiness, leathers are well-worn but glitterized, jewelry features oxidized metal, and bags have a distinctly antique feel. The collection is priced at $32 for jewelry to $269 for shoes. Click through to see all the pieces from the collection — plus the campaign images.
>> Karen Elson and Jack White are making sure their marriage — just over six years' worth — goes out with a bang, by holding a divorce party in Nashville this evening. The couple wasn't often captured together — it wasn't until last year that White finally agreed to be photographed with Elson for the first time, for Vogue's June 2010 issue. “When this [opportunity at Vogue] came about,” Elson said at the time, “for whatever reason, he was sort of like, You know, this is going to be the only time we are ever, ever, ever going to do this, so it might as well be with the best people on the planet, it might as well be with Annie [Leibovitz] and Grace [Coddington], to get that one great image of the pair of us.” Those images, plus the rare few others of the couple together, in the slideshow; plus, The White Stripes' video for "Blue Orchid," on the set of which Elson and White met in 2005. It premiered just days before they were married.
Divorce parties are nothing new, but what about throwing one with your soon-to-be ex? Former White Stripes front man Jack White and wife Karen Elson are doing just that! The couple sent out an invitation (see above) that could easily be mistaken for a wedding invitation if you didn't read the fine print: "Karen Elson + Jack White kindly request the presence of . . . at a party to celebrate their 6th anniversary, and their upcoming divorce with a positive swing bang hum dinger."
While my first reaction was that the event would just be too awkward for friends and family to go through, in their statement about the party it's clear they are doing it to have healthy, positive closure for the sake of their children. What do you think about throwing a party with your ex to celebrate the end of your relationship?
>> Karen Elson and Jack White, who married just over six years ago, have confirmed that they are divorcing in a statement: “We remain dear and trusted friends and co-parents to our wonderful children Scarlett (5) and Henry Lee (3).

We feel so fortunate for the time we have shared and the time we will continue to spend both separately and together watching our children grow. In honor of that time shared, we are throwing a divorce party. an evening together in Nashville to re-affirm our friendship and celebrate the past and future with close friends and family.” The invitation for the party, at left. Karen Elson, supermodel, singer, songwriter, wife to White Stripes singer Jack White, and mother of two, can now add designer to her impressive resume. She is collaborating with Nine West on a Fall 2011 collection of accessories for its Vintage America line, according to WWD. While we've only seen sketches of her designs, it's said to be based on her vintage-inspired style, and we immediately thought of two editorials where Elson's style was most prominent: a Nylon shoot last June that was shot by her twin sister Kate and a Vogue shoot, shot by Annie Leibowitz, featuring her and Jack White together. Both show her love of vintage femininity and, while the model is British not American, we can see the connection to vintage Americana. Click our slideshow to see the design sketches, and get a glimpse of the British model's personal style.
