Chanel presented its Resort 2014 collection in Singapore this week, and the slightly punky hair and electric-blue eye makeup is something to emulate. Summer beauty means taking risks: sporting vibrant makeup hues reserved for warm-weather functions and coifs that are both cool and functional. And the rich black and neon blue eye makeup, coupled with overexaggerated, swooped bangs, provided the perfect accompaniment to designer Karl Lagerfeld's spectacular creations. See all the looks up close here and get the exact makeup shades used backstage.
Feel Like You Were There: Chanel Cruise 2014 (Updated)
Chanel revealed its Cruise 2014 collection in Singapore earlier today, and the mix of red-carpet-ready dresses, timeless coats, and everyday pieces is delightful. While Cruise collections might not garner the same amount of attention as the Spring and Fall shows, Karl Lagerfeld's latest shows us why they should. Intended to outfit the most fabulous of women on holidays abroad, they fill the gap between Spring and Fall with a bounty of pieces ready for frivolity and fun (not the office). Chanel Resort 2014
Karl Lagerfeld's preseason collections for Chanel usually follow themes tied to the the exotic locations where they're shown. And his Resort 2014 collection, presented in Singapore Thursday, was no exception.
But while this collection drew upon the Southeast Asian city-state's rich history, it didn't telegraph a specifically Asian influence. Perhaps that's because Singapore, which is the world's fourth largest financial center and was for decades a British colony, has always drawn a mix of different influences. It was a global city before globalization — the buzzword of Chanel's last ready-to-wear collection — was a concept.
So this collection, a largely black-and-white affair, was unimpeachably cosmopolitan and drew as much from Chanel's archives as it did from, say, Singapore's infamous heat and multicultural influences. Lagerfeld kept his materials light so that these clothes, like his many raffia dresses and pieces with feather accents, would make sense in warm weather anywhere in the world.
Once Upon a Time: Keira Knightley Stars as Coco Chanel for Karl Lagerfeld

The full version of Karl Lagerfeld's latest short film for Chanel, called Once Upon a Time, has finally landed online.
The film, which stars Keira Knightley as a young Gabrielle Chanel, tells the story of one of the designer's first shops, which she opened in the French seaside resort town of Deauville in 1913.
In the film, which will be screened at Chanel's Resort 2014 presentation in Singapore this month, Chanel is helped along by her aunt Adrienne — played by actress Clotilde Hemse — as she caters to wealthy clients like Jacqueline Forzane (played by Ashleigh Good) and Ida Rubinstein (portrayed by Caroline de Maigret). When Vita Sackville-West — played by Saskia de Brauw — looks through the windows of the store toward the end of the film, she asks, "I wonder what it will be in 100 years from now?"
A look at what it was like 100 years ago, in the video below, and a look at Chanel's past Resort films, here.

Inside the Karl Lagerfeld Edition of Monaco's Annual Rose Ball
Princesses and supermodels alike celebrated Monaco's annual Rose Ball this weekend, helped along by a little creative direction from The Kaiser himself. At the request of Monaco's Princess Caroline, Lagerfeld dreamed up Belle Epoque decor for the event, which celebrated the 150th anniversary of the company that owns many of the casinos in the principality, the Société des Bains de Mer.
That meant an illustrated backdrop featuring a woman in a turn-of-the-20th-century-style dress complete with a corset and a feathered hat, menus with even more of Lagerfeld's drawings, and a costume for singer Rita Ora.
Cara Delevingne — dressed in Chanel Couture — dined with Princess Charlene and Prince Albert II of Monaco, and Lagerfeld had a choice seat next to Princess Caroline. Antoine Arnault also attended the event — along with his girlfriend, Natalia Vodianova — clad in head-to-toe Dior. A look at who else showed up for the party — and what they wore — here in the gallery.

Alice Dellal Saddles Up For This Season's Chanel Boy Bag Campaign
Alice Dellal reprises her role as the face of Chanel's Boy Bag with a brand-new campaign for Spring 2013. Posing with a white horse and a hot horse handler (model Jake White), Dellal plays the part of modern equestrienne perfectly, her trademark shaved hair and punk-rock vibe contrasting with her preppy cardigan-and-tie-blouse ensemble nicely. Photographed by Karl Lagerfeld at La Ferme de la Chapelle in Fontaine-Chaalis, the images also call to mind the famous photos of Coco Chanel riding horses with Boy Capel. All the campaign images — plus a look at all the newest Boy Bags — here.
