The Karl Lagerfeld for Macy's collection is one of the most anticipated collaborations of the season and the latest batch of photos from the line reveal some promising pieces for Fall. The 45-piece collection, dropping in stores and online on Aug. 31, stays true to Lagerfeld's classic aesthetic showing a good helping of black and white pieces, via tweed coats, high-collar cotton dresses, and faux leather pants, along with a smattering of hot pink tops and Karl-print tees priced from $50 to $170. >> Karl Lagerfeld's 45-piece limited-edition collection for Macy's hits 235 of the retailer's stores and online later this month — on Aug. 31 — and finally, there's a look at more than just one dress from the line. The collection, which runs $50 to $170, stays much within Lagerfeld's designing comfort zone — lots of black and white with pops of pink, lots of high collars, several pieces showing off imagery of the designer himself. Karl Lagerfeld and Macy's announced their exclusive capsule collaboration last November, giving fans hope of owning a piece of the Kaiser at an affordable price. Now, feast your eyes on the first images and sketches from the collection, set to debut Aug. 31 in 235 stores and on Macys.com. Prices for The Karl Lagerfeld for Impulse collection run from $50 to $170 and will feature 45 pieces including statement jackets, tweeds — we're crossing our fingers for a Chanel-inspired topper — "shocking" pink tops, graphic tees, and dresses, which range from soft and feminine to more sculptured, tuxedo silhouettes. The 45-piece collection, which hits 235 of the 800-plus Macy's stores and Macys.com on Aug. 31, promises to incorporate Lagerfeld's signature style — read: high-collared pieces, as well as edgier, rock'n'roll looks — and run $50 to $170.

The August 2011 issue of Vogue provides a first look at the collection: a $109 dress that Lagerfeld describes as "a coup d'oeil to the dresses I designed for Chloe and the girlish, more romantic mood of the seventies." As for why he decided to work with Macy's on the collection for the past year, Lagerfeld says: "These partnerships are a working holiday from my normal discipline, and I like to think differently."

After Lagerfeld, Macy's will reportedly feature Giambattista Valli in November, and then for Holiday 2011, Lagerfeld will be back along with three other designers for more Macy's exclusives.
