Kate Moss for Longchamp

>> In addition to recent rumors of her engagement to longtime beau Jamie Hince, Kate Moss is continuing her long lasting relationship with another somebody — Longchamp. Her latest collection of bags for the brand, under the Kate Moss for Longchamp label, sees her foraying into more summery territory than previous collections — think oversized woven bags, satchels, plus her signature leather buckle bags. The lookbook, shot in Morocco by Alasdair McLellan, shows Moss in a groovy fringed 'do, sporting kaftans, wrap dresses, crochet tops, wide-legged trousers, and of course — her bags.

Kate Moss has been making the rounds promoting her collection of handbags with Longchamp (last week she hit Pais during couture), and Selfridges will be her next stop later this month. The Mirror is reporting that Moss has ruffled a few feathers over her demands for a lounge-style VIP and smoking area for her and her friends at the London event. We say, give the girl a break. . .  and a smoke. Images from the complete look book can be found in the gallery below. >> In the March 2010 issue of Harper's Bazaar, Glenn O'Brien asks cover girl Kate Moss about her fashion design career. "Um . . . I'm not really a fashion designer," she retorts. "I just love clothes. I've never been to design school. I can't sketch. I can't cut patterns and things. I can shorten things. I can make a dress out of a scarf."

O'Brien responds, "Well, that's what lots of famous designers do. They find great old clothes in stores and copy them. Most designers today are really stylists. How many do you think can really sketch?"  Kate replies, "Lee McQueen doesn't do that! [John] Galliano doesn't do that! There are lots of them who don't. Stella [McCartney] is a proper designer!"

Kate may not consider herself a designer, but she's got a clothing line with Topshop and a new handbag line with Longchamp — whose company's chief executive John Cassegrain is clearly thrilled with the outcome: "We have not really made a plan or a budget for Kate — but she is known worldwide, everybody likes her and she has already given us more visibility."  And she's not done — she wants a jewelry collection, she tells the International Herald Tribune, “to get out my jewelry and say ‘this necklace’ and ‘this bracelet.”’

She continues: “Not shoes. I’ll leave that to the professional craftsmanship. And I wouldn’t do a sneaker — I would do a ballet pump. I bought sneakers thinking they would be good for working out in Ibiza, and I looked down and thought ‘That’s not my foot!”’  Kate says there's no "master plan" for her career, but you won't catch in a movie. “I couldn’t sit on set — sitting in a caravan for six months.”

Finally, all those rumors of moving to Paris aren't true — she would never live anywhere else. “I’m so British. I just like going home. I like the bus stops; I just do. I love the country. I like being able to get in my car and drive myself.”

Kate Moss's relationship with Longchamp has been extended beyond eight seasons of modeling. We recently gave you a sneak peek of the Super's new bag, now here's more. There are three sub-collections: Rock'N Casual, Rock'N Travel, and Rock'N Glam. These two buckled satchels are part of the Rock'N Casual collection. There are also a few shots of Kate surrounded by her beautiful babies. She isn't into flashy logos, and her creations prove that.

>> Last night to close out couture, Kate Moss held a launch party for her first Longchamp handbag collection at the Ritz Club in Paris.  With zebra print everywhere — on the carpet, on the walls — which has become somewhat a signature for the line, featured in both the lining and a scarf that can be tied around the handbag strap, Moss and her silver-streaked hair were joined by the likes of boyfriend (maybe fiance?) Jamie Hince, Maryna Linchuk, Frida Gustavsson, Lauren Santo Domingo, Hamish Bowles, Giovanna Battaglia, Giambattista Valli, and Carine Roitfeld, who coincidentally wore a zebra print coat the day before.

Moss said of the collaboration: "'I've been working with Longchamp for a while — we just get on. It was a fabulous opportunity for me."  She named the bags, out Feb. 11, The Glastonbury, after her favorite music festival, The Soho, and The Glouchester — prices start at $155 for a small purse, clutches are $490 to $780, handbags are $780 to $1,700, and weekend bags are $1,290 to $2,500.  Already, a video of her campaign shoot has popped up — the ads will run with taglines like "Don't You Wish Your Bag Was Hot As Kate's?," "An Absolute Moss-have," "Kate Is Not A Plastic Bag," and "My Moss Bag Brings All The Boys To The Yard."

The first seasonal collection of Kate Moss for Longchamp—12 styles each named for Moss' favorite spots in London—doesn't hit Longchamp stores until February 11, but images of the collection from Vogue Paris and a newly released video from the ad campaign photo shoot reveal looks from the lineup.

Last night Moss celebrated the Longchamp collaboration at the Ritz in Paris with over 700 guests including Jamie Hince, Carine Roitfeld, Giambattista Valli, Loulou de la Falaise, the Longchamp family, and the Queens of Noize, who gave a live performace.
