LA Fashion Week, Fall 2008: The Lauren Conrad Collection

As we hoped, Lauren Conrad stepped up her game for her first runway showing and Fall collection for The Lauren Conrad Collection.

As we hoped, Lauren Conrad stepped up her game for her first runway showing and Fall collection for The Lauren Conrad Collection. And, to our excitement, all her friends were there to share in her glory.

In the front row sat Whitney, Audrina, Lo, Kristin, Brody and Frankie — all giddy and excited to be at Smashbox Studios. FabSugar was on the other side of the runway amidst Lauren's family (funny huh?). We sat next to her grandmother and had some words with her mom and sister. They were very proud and thought the show was fabulous. When asked what her sis's favorite piece was, she said the strapless ivory ruffle dress (pictured) — very cute indeed. Very Lauren!

The French flair — berets, leather gloves, and chic pumps — added a certain je ne sai quoi to the collection, and helped create the girl Lauren is trying to convey. These pieces were an improvement from what we've seen from Lauren thus far; some were the casual cute pieces we know, some were form-fitting and flirtatious and will want to get to know. The palette was autumnal: ivory, terra cotta, plum, olive green, and there was plenty of black, Lauren's self-proclaimed favorite color. High waisted skirts, a zippy botanical print and lace were new additions. Let's put it this way: there was less bubble and more bodacious.

These are clearly clothes Lauren and her posse want to wear so my question is: Do you want to wear them too?

Fab Finding Follow Up: Off to LA Fashion Week I Go

New York, London, Milan, and Paris fashion weeks came and went .

New York, London, Milan, and Paris fashion weeks came and went . . . and now it's time for me to tackle LA again! I'm most looking forward to seeing the Lauren Conrad Collection and Nicky Hilton's Nicholai line. Even though LA Fashion Week isn't as hectic as the rest, it's still important that I look fashion forward. You never know, a paparazzi might want to take my photo!

I started you off with this Juicy Couture Link Wide Bracelet ($148) because it goes with the sophisticated cool vibe I'm striving for.

Let's see what you all came up with!

Look # 1, created by elanakat is total California chic; I love how the skirt pulls some of that LA sunshine into the outfit.

LA Fashion Week, Fall 2008: Whitley Kros

It was all checkerboard chicks at Whitley Kros' Fall '08 show!

It was all checkerboard chicks at Whitley Kros' Fall '08 show! This time around, Marissa Ribisi (Giovanni's twin sis, in case you forgot) and Sophia Banks whipped up a more '80s-inspired collection, but as always, they delivered the fun.

Models, including America's Next Top Model cycle nine second runner up Chantal Jones, sashayed down the catwalk in oodles of plaid, large black and white checkers, and zebra-emblazoned pieces, as stars like Bijou Phillips and Jenna Elfman looked on. Polished high-waisted skirts and cardigan dresses balanced out the masculine baggy trousers and blazers.

A few zebra-in-the-crotch pants were random, but I much appreciated the two-tone fringe scarves and bursts of vibrant colors. Any collection that can have fun despite the moodiness of Fall is Fab in my book.

Fab Flash: Lauren Conrad to Show at LA Fashion Week

I told you I would keep you up to date on LC's fashion show, and I'm not one to break my word.

I told you I would keep you up to date on LC's fashion show, and I'm not one to break my word.

I was a little concerned when I didn't see Lauren's name on the schedule for New York Fashion Week, but all is well — she is set to show during LA Fashion Week, which happens next month, Mar. 9-13. The Smashbox Studios venue is definitely more fitting for The Lauren Conrad Collection's laid-back, California feel. I might be at LA Fashion Week, too, so I'm glad I didn't miss out on LC, after all!

LA Fashion Week Fall 2007: Imitation of Christ

Mixing it up with a goth moment at LA Fashion Week, Tara Subkoff delivered an Imitation of Christ collection containing many of her definitive vintagey looks, and a few loser looks.

Mixing it up with a goth moment at LA Fashion Week, Tara Subkoff delivered an Imitation of Christ collection containing many of her definitive vintagey looks, and a few loser looks. Nonetheless, it was one of the most theatrical LA shows thus far - bones on the runway hello?!

The color story was downtown hipster with black, tan and white. I could have done without the pant and skirt outfits and been happy with all those beaded and sequined dresses. The reworking of vintage pieces was Subkoff's shtick when she started the line in 2000, and though that's not her method anymore, this is one gal who will always have an eye for vintage styling. I particularly like an ivory beaded dress worn over a pair of black skinnies - very cool indeed. The black lips were a bad beauty choice, but a black cape was a fun addition to the 'Blair Witch Project' feel of the collection.

Mischa Barton

Bebe's Luxe Look at L.A. Fashion Week

The youthful fashion brand Bebe is going upscale.

The youthful fashion brand Bebe is going upscale. Not only does the brand have the chic Mischa Barton as the face of its ads, but it also just unveiled a new high-end accessories line called Neda designed to appeal to more sophisticated consumers. And on Wednesday, Bebe revealed a Spring 2007 collection at L.A. Fashion Week that proves the label is leaning toward a more high-end look.

The line, designed by David Cardona, relied heavily on black and white with big, full skirts, tiny waists, and dramatic, high collars. Compared to Bebe's usual output, this showcase was far more formal and refined, but with hipster touches like dressy visors, the looks still didn't stray from the label's usual trendy vibe. LA Fashion Week: William Rast

One of our favorites here at Sugar, Justin Timberlake, premiered his "Street Sexy" William Rast clothing line last night during LA Fashion Week. Here's more

On the runway, there were skinny jeans for men and women, topped with tanks or muscle shirts. There were also country-inspired checkered shirts for men decorated with ruffles or leather details. Some were shown with ascots.

Women's styles included cropped cardigans, shrunken sweaterdresses and puffy-sleeved blouses with bows at the neck.

Later, dressier attire had a soundtrack of Nine Inch Nails and N.E.R.D. (Timberlake is said to have spent months picking the show's playlist.) Men wore plaid blazers with attached leather vests over slim-fitting slacks. Accessories were key as each outfit was adorned with oversized belt buckles or chunky pendants. One was a skull, another looked like a grenade.

Party dresses for women were funky and flirty. One ice-blue shift was dangerously low cut, with strands of pearls serving as safety straps. Another featured a shredded scoop neck bedazzled with tiny rhinestones. A polka-dotted, 1950s-style dress had a full skirt, puffy sleeves and a black ribbon belt.
