A family of favorite cool shops is about to get even cooler. Urban Outfitters Inc. — the owner of Urban, Free People, and Anthro — will unveil a new way to shop its goodies. Expecting to open about 35 more stores in 2011, the company plans to revamp its accessories, with an accessories-only test store for Anthropologie opening in Bethesda, MD, next year. According to Glen Senk, Urban’s chief executive officer, "50 percent of the product will be shoes," reflecting the products available online, and if all goes well, we can expect a few more accessories-exclusive shops on the way. The company has other big plans for expansion; sights are already set on store locations for the Leifsdottir line, as well as a bridal store.

All denim options are on the table this season. From shorts to shirts and everything in between, it's a hot-ticket item. I'm especially into chambray pieces for its denim effect in a lighter fabric. So, this Leifsdottir Chambray Skirt ($188) totally had me — a super girlie take on the trend that you could toughen up with gladiators and a tank. Only problem was the three-digit price tag, so I set off in search of one that doesn't break the bank.

Urban Outfitters' less grungy and more grown up label, Leifsdottir, is expanding for spring 2010. The new collection will be sold in over 150 doors including Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, and Bergdorf Goodman and outside the U.S. for the fist time at Hold Renfrew in Canada and Selbu in Hong Kong.

Leifsdottir—loved for its reasonably priced collections with unexpected boning, crinoline and corset-type details—will hang near labels like Marc by Marc Jacobs, Elizabeth and James, and Diane von Furstenberg.

Fans of designer Johanna Uursjarvi's romantic, Old World looks will rejoice in the online store opening next January, followed by an expansion into shoes and handbags in 2011.
