Ashlee Simpson Takes Her Punk-Chic Looks Down Under

Ashlee Simpson has mastered the punk-chic look: dark hues, stacked accessories, and, of course, lots of leather.

Ashlee Simpson has mastered the punk-chic look: dark hues, stacked accessories, and, of course, lots of leather. And now she has taken her rockin' aesthetic down under to Australia. While arriving at Sydney airport, Ashlee layered a black blazer over leather pants, then finished off with a pair of black platform wedges and adorable heart sunglasses. Later on, during a shopping excursion, she opted for a green leopard cardigan and mini Chanel clutch. Ashlee styled each ensemble with closet staples — a distressed LnA tee and a bevy of gold necklaces. Shop our picks to mimic Ashlee's too-cool Aussie style.

Lily Collins gives us an easy-chic rendition on stripes. Suiting up for an appearance in NYC, the actress dressed up a basic tee ($55, originally $92) with an oversize blazer, black skinnies, and a cool pair of perforated booties ($275). Trend Alert: Resort Brights

This time of year is all about getting the best of both worlds.

This time of year is all about getting the best of both worlds. You've got holiday cheer — and the cozy clothes that go with it, but there's always the promise of escape — and a fresh wardrobe — via resort collections. Kate Mara is a pretty example of how to play with resort brights. Rather than the expected LBD or even a jewel tone, she goes light and bright in a sweet turquoise sheath. If you're tempted to do the same, embrace the call to resort wear with neon brights, salmon-hued minis, and pretty sea tones — then book your warm-weather getaway to complete the look!

Trend Alert: Lacy Tees

Lace can feel overtly sexy for day, but not so with the lacy tee.
Patterson J. Kincaid at ShopStyle

Lace can feel overtly sexy for day, but not so with the lacy tee. This is a top that makes its way effortlessly from day to night. It's light, funky, and a little ladylike, but never too dainty, especially with a boxy or cropped fit. We like it just the way it is, paired with denim, and maybe a tank underneath if flashing skin isn't your thing. Either way, this is an all-over lace look — and we're all over it.

Celeb Style: Demi Lovato

Remember when Demi Lovato was all about the girly frocks?

Remember when Demi Lovato was all about the girly frocks? Not anymore. The singer has since moved on from her cute looks to much funkier ensembs. During a visit to the Fox and Friends studio in NYC, the singer showed off a femme rocker vibe in an oversized blush pink top, dark gray jeans, and black cutout boots. The color combo is the perfect juxtaposition between sweet and sassy, and we like how she layered on the jewels. A feather necklace, stacked bracelets, and a jagged copper bangle from the Kardashian jewelry line add depth to her fine look.

LNA Presents Fall 2010, Patti Smith Dedicates Song at After Party to Alexander McQueen

LnA presented a fall 2010 collection in the pent house of Milk Studios yesterday, luring guest with the promise of a Ryan Gosling-helmed DJ booth and grungy West Coast fashions. The fact that Gosling never showed up was besides the point, however, because Patti Smith promised a "surprise" set at the after party held in the same space hours later. An overly packed house watched as Smith dedicated her last song "Because the Night" to Alexander McQueen and told the crowd his death should be a reminder to "celebrate life."

The clothes (above)—a mix of slashed tees, long tube skirts, paneled leggings, and striped mini-dresses didn't scream buy-now like their burn-hole tops from spring did, but we must admit LnA can cut an affordable tee, and designers Ashley Jane Glasson, Lauren Alexander, and April Leight clearly know how to pack a house.
