While hundreds of looks appeared on the catwalks during Fashion Month, there are only a few vital trends you need to know. Casual braids, angular nail designs, and vamp-y lip hues were just some of the styles on repeat from New York to Paris. Take note of these top five trends to try when you watch.
While designers are showing their marvelous collections tucked inside tents and buildings scattered across New York City, London, Milan, and Paris, there is an even greater spectacle occurring between shows. The ladies who peacock twice a year during Fashion Month dictate the trends just as much as — if not more than — the designers' creations. We saw a bevy of beauties this month, so click through for some hair, makeup, and manicure inspiration!
Here are the top 10 trends (you should know about) for Fall 2013. That's right; we're breaking down the standout looks straight from the runways of all four — New York, London, Milan, and Paris — Fashion Week cities right here. A serious '90s grunge revival was staged at Saint Laurent, the likes of which Courtney Love would be proud. Shades of blue cascaded down the Prada, Missoni, and Carven catwalks (to name a few); high-impact details took jeweled, feathered, and appliquéd shape at Lanvin, J.Crew, and Tom Ford; and the new It shoe was grounded, thanks to lug soles, ridged platforms, and much chunkier soles. London Fashion Week's biggest trends have everything to do with high-impact prints and gorgeous flashes of color. British designers proved that animal prints aren't going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, we're seeing them in larger doses than ever before. Moschino Cheap and Chic took the head-to-toe printed trend a step further by covering a suit and blouse in leopard spots. Burberry Prorsum and Tom Ford also explored these attention-grabbing patterns, using them to update their signature silhouettes. As for Fall '13's must-have hues, pinks and deep reds dominated the runways. Watch on to see our full trend report from across the pond! On Allison McNamara: J.Crew top, Hale Bob vest.
Is there anything better than a front row full of fashion's biggest fans? Maybe. But that doesn't mean a style-studded front row doesn't get our hearts racing. From London to Milan, this week's shows were packed to the brim with chic attendees, and not only did they bring their fashion A-games, but they also appeared to be having a grand old time doing it. After all, if P'trique is at Fashion Week, it can't not be fun, right?
Click through to see those, plus all the most gorgeous looks from the pre-Oscars parties in Los Angeles and the Brit Awards in London — and more — right here, in our weekly best-dressed roundup.
At London Fashion Week, the hair and makeup sent down the runway is typically much different than that featured at New York Fashion Week. Although the cities are only separated by the Atlantic, British designers opt for more inventive makeup shades and intricate hair designs. See what beautiful (and sometimes bizarre) things the runways had to offer from London Fashion Week Fall 2013.
