It’s official: The formerly-dowdy tea-length dress is having a chic revival, thanks to Marc Jacobs’ ladylike designs for Louis Vuitton and stylish celebrity fans such as Gemma Arterton, Alexa Chung, and Kirsten Dunst. All three stars chose skirts or dresses that hit their mid-calves, straight from the Fall 2010 Runway, for the launch of the Louis Vuitton Bond Street Maison in London last night, and on them the retro silhouette looked anything but old. They key to keeping this shape looking fresh and youthful rather than frumpy? Highlight a slim waist with a voluminous skirt that shows off dainty ankles . . . and a great pair of killer pumps.

Alexa Chung hosted a string of fashionable faces at the Louis Vuitton Bond Street store relaunch in London today. Gwyneth Paltrow wore a sleek slicked back hairstyle returning to her red carpet duties after all the Iron Man 2 promotion last month, while Kirsten Dunst was glowing from her recent bikini time in Cannes. Thandie Newton stood out in a bright yellow dress and Gemma Arterton was fresh off her worldwide Prince of Persia press tour and looking pretty in pink before the movie's Friday release. She and Gwyneth wore coordinating pumps to the event and apparently the ladies aren't the only ones who enjoy the brand's footwear — Brooklyn Beckham also rocked LV shoes as his mom's date to a party last night.

Usually I like more figurative work – this is the sort of thing I’d look at and admire but not want to buy. But I just like it . . . it makes me happy.”
