>> Loulou de Falaise, who collaborated with and inspired Yves Saint Laurent for over three decades, died Saturday at her country house in Boury-en-Vexin, northwest of Paris. She was 63.

The Pierre Berge-Yves Saint Laurent Foundation announced her passing, citing an unspecified "long illness" as the cause of death. WWD's sources report that de la Falaise was diagnosed with cancer last June but wanted to keep her health a private matter. She is survived by her husband, Thadee Klossowski — who she married in 1977 in a Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche turban and harem pants — and their daughter, Anna.

De la Falaise met Saint Laurent at 1968, when she was 21, at a tea party given by the designer Fernando Sanchez. She began working for YSL in 1972, designing jewelry and hats for his couture and ready-to-wear collections and producing up to 2,000 pieces of jewelry a year until 2002, when he retired. Later, she collaborated with Oscar de la Renta on his jewelry collections. Her final designs — a line of costume jewelry she created over the Summer — go on sale next month in the shop at the Majorelle Garden in Marrakech.

The Hidden Treasures of QVC and HSN

Shopping online feels as natural as purchasing in-store, but buying clothes from a TV-based retailer still seems a little unconventional.

Shopping online feels as natural as purchasing in-store, but buying clothes from a TV-based retailer still seems a little unconventional. Designers, however, are increasingly venturing onto the small screen to hawk their wares. Isaac Mizrahi, always one to explore new ways of getting products to customers, inked a deal with QVC over the Summer, while Naeem Khan is set to debut his premiere collection for HSN on October 28. We took a quick look at some HSN and QVC products that are available now, from established designers like Erin Fetherston and Kenneth Jay Lane.

Olivier Theyskens Is Still at Nina Ricci's Table

>> Although sources are saying that Puig already has a new designer lined up to take Oliver Theyskens's spot at Nina Ricci, he looked right at home at the Ricci table last night during the annual Sidaction AIDS benefit gala, right down the way from Nina Ricci president Manuel Puig.  Maybe he's going to ride out his contract until October, after all?  But it another fashion fixture who was on everyone's minds last night — Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, making her first appearance at a fashion event and breaking her usual ties with Dior by wearing Yves Saint Laurent as the guest of Pierre Berge.*image: source, source

Fabcon: Loulou de la Falaise

Born in a family of writers, models, and painters, Loulou de la Falaise was destined to become an artistic marvel.

Born in a family of writers, models, and painters, Loulou de la Falaise was destined to become an artistic marvel. From a young age, her mother, Maxime de la Falaise, a noted fashionista, gave Loulou open access to the world of high fashion. Her career took off when she moved to Paris and befriended fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent.

“I met Yves through mutual friends. We had lots of fun together, and he must have liked what I did with clothes because one day he asked me to work with him," said Loulou.

Loulou de la Falaise and Yves Saint Laurent's friendship grew into a creative partnership which lasted over three decades until his death. Now, Loulou's presence in the fashion industry is still strong with stores in Paris and a jewelry line with the HSN. Throughout the years, Loulou's eclectic and unique style has remained unmatched. From her signature head wraps to her funky shoes, there's no denying this lady's got style.

Hundreds Turn Out To Mourn at Yves Saint Laurent's Funeral
>> Over 800 mourners paid tribute to Yves Saint Laurent, who passed away on Sunday after a year-long battle with brain cancer.

Applause erupted from the hundreds of onlookers as the designer's coffin was carried into the Eglise Saint-Roch for the funeral mass. A string quartet played as invited guests took their seats in a church decorated with jasmine and white lilies.

During services, former YSL muse Catherine Deneuve, visibly moved, gave a reading from a Walt Whitman poem, followed by a eulogy from Pierre Berge, Saint Laurent's former lover and long-time business partner: "He turned fashion on its head, making it socially relevant rather than merely aesthetic. With Saint Laurent, women ceased being merely clothes-horses or the objects of designer fantasies."

As expected, a number of fashion figures attended — John Galliano, Christian Lacroix, Claudia Schiffer, Laetitia Casta — but noticeably absent was rival Karl Lagerfeld, who according to a Chanel spokesperson was "away on business." Most of the women attendees were dressed in pants suits, in tribute to the designer's reputation as the man who put women in pants.

Yves Saint Laurent's body will be cremated and then scattered in the Majorelle Gardens in Morocco, where he spent much of his life. A short video of the services is here.
