Midday Muse: Luggage Furniture

We've all heard the expression, "living out of a suitcase."

We've all heard the expression, "living out of a suitcase." And, until now, it's been associated with temporary, not ideal living situations — "slumming it." But, Marie Claire Maison has envisioned tes valises in a whole new form. Here, inspired by traditional hard-case trunks (think Joe Versus the Volcano), two wooden shelves painted fluorescent yellow were installed in a metal suitcase to store Summer attire, like a mini closet. Need seating, not storage? A wheeled nylon bag makes a pouf when placed around a coffee table, if you fill it with clothes or packaging bubbles to keep it soft. Got a basic military trunk? Drill holes into its base, and add casters: an instant coffee table that you can easily move about on your terrace! A carry-on bag makes a giant vanity box when you add mirrors to its top with velcro, and hang jewelry from a kilt safety pin. Or, canvas sailor duffel bags make back pillows for your a low-lying sofa when stuffed. Think outside of the suitcase!

On Our Radar: Karl Lagerfeld Handbag and Luggage Collection

Given Karl Lagerfeld's famously pompous demeanor, it's not surprising that he served as his own inspiration for his latest holiday/resort handbag and luggage collection.

Given Karl Lagerfeld's famously pompous demeanor, it's not surprising that he served as his own inspiration for his latest holiday/resort handbag and luggage collection. The designer wanted items that are obviously identifiable with his style and those items include zippers shaped like cravats (cute!), handles inspired by sunglasses, and woven Ks on leather clutches.

The color palette is mostly black, white, and beige, with some pops of bright orange and midnight blue. Wholesale prices range from $250 to $1,150. Quite a lot to fork over but not if you want a piece of the true Karl!

Get Up and Go: Wild Luggage Tags

We're all getting ready for tomorrow's big party in Hollywood and, as I was pulling out my suitcase to pack it with my (hopefully) fab outfit, I noticed this doggy.

We're all getting ready for tomorrow's big party in Hollywood and, as I was pulling out my suitcase to pack it with my (hopefully) fab outfit, I noticed this doggy. Sometimes your best pal can't come with you on vacay . . . and cocktail parties are not North's specialty, even at my own home. A friend gave me this luggage tag — people often confuse my smooshy Boston with a Frenchie anyway — and it looks so fun attached to the handle of my carry-on. Check out other kitty and doggy luggage tags for your suitcases (or even a pet's carrier) when you read more

The beautiful Agathe of Style Bytes demonstrates that sleek dressing can come straight from H&M as long as you style it well. The winning accoutrement for Agathe is a second hand hat case.We feel like LVMH should gift her with this precious little hat box key chain and encourage her to help them with their luxury luggage campaign. Wouldn't she look just perfect next to Mikhail Gorbachev?
