It's time to store away all of those layering pieces (so long, Spring!) and start focusing on all things Summer. We're not talking about tees and cutoff shorts here, either. This season, it's all about investing in the new basics: a statement bag, metallic sandals, the perfect white dress, and lightweight chambray make the cut. Additionally, we can't live without a pair of sleek heels, tailored shorts, and a wear-everywhere maxi dress. To keep your wallet (and your closet) happy, we've culled 13 picks — all currently on sale — for you to kick-start your warm-weather wardrobe. 21 Red-Hot Sandals For Instant Outfit Gratification (Thank Us Later)
Our latest shoe — rather, shoe color — obsession may not exactly fall into this season's lighter, brighter palette, but it certainly does make a serious case for red's unequivocal statement-making power. It boils down to this: we love the idea of sticking to the outfit basics (we're talking white tee and denim cutoffs here). So, when one accessory can do all the work, that's kind of like styling nirvana — herein lies the appeal of a great red sandal.

Whether the shoe be flat-soled and adorned with the bare two-strap minimum or come complete with a chunky platform and sexier lace-up details, the idea is to turn heads with one fell swoop of standout red and a cool silhouette to match. And let us remind you that these sandals were made to be worn for day and night. So, if this weekend's brunch calls for a red-hot pick-me-up, then look no further than our picks — at every heel height and price point — below.

Marni Fall 2013
"It's austere but with a romanticism," Consuelo Castiglioni said of the Fall 2013 collection she sent out in Milan Sunday. Sure enough, this was a sparser, darker collection than fans of the quirky-retro brand have come to expect.
Marni Fall 2013 Runway
The runway at Marni's Fall 2013 runway show was a masterful lesson in dark, streamlined, and utterly sophisticated wares from Consuelo Castiglioni. "It's austere but with a romanticism, it's melancholic, severe," said the designer. While we're used to seeing a more whimsical spike in Castiglioni's hand, her latest collection induced a sense of pure refinement, showcasing a magnificent array of outerwear in the way of heavy, oversize wool coats, structured bomber jackets, and bonded leather jackets. For daywear, Castiglioni paired strapless peplum tops over a range of baggy trousers, cropped biker jackets with peekaboo knife-pleat skirts, and miniskirts with structured bonded tops. And every so often, there was a pop of print via graphic landscape and floral patterns. Fur added an opulent touch across the board; short and long haired textures were used on skirts, capes, extralong stoles, and collars, injecting pure decadence into every single look. Marni's accessories always draw a big crowd, and this season's latest highlighted a range of flat riding boots (and even a few furry renditions), double-strap sandals, gorgeous leather satchels, and furry mittens.
These Stars Arm Themselves With It Bags — We're Green With Envy
What do actresses Jessica Chastain and Emma Roberts and model Irina Shayk all have in common? Well, you're looking at it. They were all recently spotted toting around stunning green-hued bags, which called major attention to their respective off-duty looks, too. Jessica sported her Dolce & Gabbana Miss Sicily purse with a black coat and black-and-white boots in NYC; Irina, clad in a black Winter coat, also carried her statement green zip-detailed tote; and Emma showed off her green-studded Marni bag, which complemented her brown shearling leather jacket and bright fuchsia scarf perfectly. Any punchy bag has the power to change an outfit, but we'd say emerald green is the one to add to your shopping list because it's 2013's Pantone color of the year. Score similar green bags we're loving below.

Are You on Board With Designers' Spring Leather Obsession?
Leather and Spring aren't the most obvious pairing, but leave it to this crew of designers — who featured copious amounts of leather on their Spring runways — to make it the new It couple. From Marni's colorful structured tops and skirts to Fendi's sleek colorblocked pants, we can't help but be intrigued. While a part of us can't seem to fathom the thought of sweating it out for the sake of fashion (65-degree weather plus a leather dress does not sound appealing), there's another side of us is falling hard for all the pretty purple, green, and taupe-hued offerings. Now, we want to hear from you. Are you willing to sacrifice a little function for fashion's sake, or is this Spring leather trend just plain ridiculous?

Emma Roberts's Fuchsia Scarf and Marni Bag Make Her Outfit Pop
While taking a romantic stroll with her boyfriend in NYC, Emma Roberts showed off a casual cool ensemble that's easy to re-create no matter what city you're in. The actress started off with some basics: a striped top, ripped jeans, and taupe suede booties. She wore a Paul & Joe Sister leather and shearling jacket on top, then added a bright pop of color via a fuchsia scarf. Round tortoise sunglasses by Karen Walker ($310) and a studded green Marni bag completed Emma's Winter street chic. Mimic this ensemble by sporting your favorite basics, then taking your look to a sassier place via a punchy scarf, bag, and shades.

Diesel Boss Renzo Rosso Acquires Stake in Marni (Updated)

br>
After months of speculation that Diesel founder Renzo Rosso would buy a stake in Marni, Rosso confirmed on Thursday that the brand is now in his portfolio.
The exact figures of the deal were not disclosed, but Reuters reports that Rosso made the acquisition through his holding company, Only the Brave, which in addition to Diesel also controls Maison Martin Margiela and Viktor & Rolf. Rosso told WWD that it's his ultimate goal to crate the industry's next big fashion conglomerate.
"It's my big dream to create a modern group that is an alternative to the existing ones," he said. "We are beginning to become one such group, and we are working on consolidating it."
Rosso's investment will not only help open more Marni boutiques around the world, but also push the brand into markets like China. That's the kind of support Marni founder and CEO Gianni Castiglioni said he was looking for in October.
"We would like to double our sales in five years through a further development of retail but without drastically overturning our company," he said. "I would be open to consider a partner only if he would share my vision in managing the company. We are looking at industrial partners that can provide competence and long-term vision."
Industrially speaking, Rosso is a good fit. Through its subsidiaries, Only the Brave manufactures clothing for Vivienne Westwood, Dsquared2, and Marc Jacobs's menswear line. Rosso is also invested in the ecommerce giant Yoox, and in Marcolin, a company that produces eyewear for Tom Ford, Roberto Cavalli, and — naturally — Diesel.
