Instead of just choosing one face to represent its Fall campaign, Lane Crawford went for the gusto featuring five Chinese top models: Fei Fei Sun, Liu Wen, Ming Xi, Shu Pei, and Xiao Wen Ju. The ad, shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, depicts them wearing a palette of black and neutrals from brands like Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, and Lanvin. "The campaign combines a stunning array from renowned international fashion brands with the strongest Chinese faces to create a fascinating and powerful shot," said the China-based retailer. Do you like the dramatic statement, or would you prefer more diversity?
Riccardo Tisci Casts Only Asian Models to Show Japanese-Infused Spring 2011 Givenchy Couture Collection
>> Now that Givenchy's couture presentations are intimate and without the hoopla of a fashion show, Riccardo Tisci has decreased the number of dresses per collection produced — this time, there were only ten. But that doesn't mean there's a lack of drama. Inspired by Japanese robot toys and Kazuo Ohno (the legendary Japanese Butoh dancer who Tisci met through a mutual friend), the collection is pastel in front with shocks of brighter color in the back — like with Pre-Fall, Tisci has left his usual black-based palette behind. One dress, with hand-dyed and hand-cut matte sequins, took 4,000 hours of handwork to assemble. And as for the model cast, Tisci went completely Asian, with Chinese (Ming Xi, Liu Wen, Shu Pei Qin, Sun Fei Fei, Du Juan, Jiang Xiao Yi), Japanese (Ai Tominaga, Tao Okamoto) and Korean (Hye Rim Park, So Young Kang) all represented.

>> Gisele Bundchen has turned up in another Spring 2011 campaign to pair with her only-girl Balenciaga: Isabel Marant. A first peek at that, plus new images of Bundchen for Balenciaga, a Chanel ad of Stella Tennant spraying a nude Freja Beha Erichsen with a hose — and more — in the gallery (NSFW).
Fab Ad: Givenchy, Fall '10
For Fall '10, Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci decided to stir the pot by featuring a transgender model in his ad campaign. Joining the top model ranks with Mariacarla Boscono, Joan Smalls, Ming Xi, Catherine McNeil, and Malgosia Bela — we love her pink hair — is Riccardo's personal assistant, Lea T. (previously known as Leo, here in the red lips). "She’s always been very feminine: superfragile, very aristocratic," said Tisci, who also noted Lea T. will be starting a new career in veterinary medicine in Milan. What are your thoughts on this feminine-masculine dichotomy?

First Look: Givenchy Fall 2010 Ads with Ming Xi, Catherine McNeil, and Riccardo Tisci's Former Fit Model, Lea T.
>> In his continued exploration of masculine-feminine, Riccardo Tisci cast nine male and female models for the Fall 2010 Givenchy campaign, including his muse Mariacarla Boscono, Joan Smalls, Ming Xi, Catherine McNeil, Malgosia Bela (her hair dyed pink for the occasion), plus his Brazilian longtime personal assistant and former fit model, who also happens to be transgender, Lea T. Lea, formerly known as Leo, is now heading towards a new career as a veterinarian in Milan, but Tisci says of his choice: “She’s always been very feminine: superfragile, very aristocratic. She’s part of the family." The ads were shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott in a Paris studio.
Fall 2010 Campaign Update: Givenchy, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga, and Roberto Cavalli
>> Fall 2010 campaign season is well under way — and although not all casts have been finalized, as is the case over at Miu Miu, many have, causing an influx of rumors and confirmations. On Wednesday, Karen Elson joined Christy Turlington and Natalia Vodianova on the Fall 2010 Louis Vuitton campaign set in New York, where Steven Meisel photographed and Karl Templer styled. Meisel also shot the Lanvin campaign this week in New York, with Alber Elbaz overseeing another trio: Anja Rubik, Magdelena Frackowiak and Mariacarla Boscono.
Givenchy, too, is rumored to be going with a trio of female models — Ming Xi, Joan Smalls, and Mariacarla Boscono — joined by a few male models in front of Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott's lens. But the trio trend breaks there — word going around is that Meisel captured 12 girls for Balenciaga, including Finnish newcomer Kirsi Pyrhonen, and Roberto Cavalli is going solo with Gisele Bundchen shot by Mert and Marcus.
