>> Yesterday's heavy-hitting show schedule made for a full day of fun backstage at Milan Fashion Week. Not only was there plenty of pin-up girl posturing at Dolce & Gabbana — in bejeweled maillots, no less — but also lots of madcap twirling in tomato-printed skirts and aubergine-patterned dresses. At Ferragamo, models pranced in flowing gowns fit for a night in the tropics; at Missoni, oversized fans provided the perfect coy accessory. But the most delicious thing spotted backstage? Earrings made from pasta at Dolce & Gabbana. Get a peek at all this and more, here in the slideshow.

Missoni delivered its trademark color and prints for Spring 2012; this time with textural intrigue, giving way to ruffles, fringe, and tassels adorning knit dresses layered over tailored suit separates. The changes and updates to Missoni's zigzagged knits, on their own, don't feel that dramatic; but in viewing the collection as a whole the evolution is clear. Brown fringe and looser, more abstract prints feel less typical of the brand, and a touch more exotic. Ruffles on asymmetrical dresses, blouses, and even, suiting feels Flamenco-inspired and beautifully femme.

We were captivated with David Stark's pop-up vision, and now Target stores all over the nation have been battling the sheer volume of people trying to get their hands on Missoni for Target clothing and home goods. Due to the overwhelming and enthusiastic response, the site Target.com was also down all day on Tuesday! We're so thrilled to welcome back guest writer David Stark! Today, he shares the décor and layout for the Target Missoni pop-up shop he designed!

We were very busy during New York Fashion Week premiering the Missoni For Target line of apparel and housewares in a two-story, pop-up shopping spectacular on the corner of 42nd Street and 6th Avenue, and it was a fabulous project in so many ways. It’s no secret that my love affair with Target is the stuff of dreams, and when the collaboration is with such a cool, iconic fashion house, the ante is upped that much more. This project, though, was also so exciting, because it was a wonderful design challenge. Challenge? Sure. Taking a raw space and transforming it into a temporary fantasy land is always a fun ride for any designer. Working within the Missoni visual language of bold pattern and color, though, is its own world.
