Monique Lhuillier's Spring 2013 collection took its direction from the beauty found underneath the ocean's surface. Her customarily gorgeous gowns and dresses were, this season, covered in prints that resembled glittering aqua fish scales or stylized images of koi. Other dresses were covered in small shells painted a deep blue that caught the light as the models moved down the runway. Peplums, an enduring trend this season, were used to create fishtail silhouettes with a number of the collection's tops.

But even the dresses that didn't look like they were pulled straight out of the water carried reminders of the sea. Gauzy tulle numbers were embellished with lace or sequin embroidery that looked like the patterns of the ocean current, and one strapless gown was covered in a multicolored print that resembled the ocean depths fading from light blue to dark.

Monique Lhuillier showed off her modern side for Spring '13, highlighting gorgeous digital prints and smart separates along with her trademark red-carpet-worthy gowns. A bevy of sleek, peplum-infused separates celebrated the designer's under-the-sea inspiration highlighting fish scales and koi motifs. Meanwhile, slick sheaths and fit-and-flare dresses provided fresh, ladylike options for the party crowd. The eveningwear portion of the show did not disappoint: from ethereal one-shouldered silk teal gowns to stunning lace confections, the designer wowed the crowd with her eye for detail. We can already picture the long list of celebrities waiting to get their hands on one of these glamorous gowns.

In honor of the US Open Tennis Championships, which started in New York on Monday, Vogue asked designers including Pamela Love, Peter Som, and Eddie Borgo to design tennis balls with elements of their signature motifs. The one-of-a-kind balls are decorated with everything from cloth flowers to rhinestones, lace, leather, and aggressive metal studs. Love shot an arrow through her design ("I have four arrow tattoos, so I thought, why not?" she says), while Som's sparkly entry takes inspiration from a diamond tennis bracelet. Dana Lorenz's Fenton ball, with brass chains and pearls, takes inspiration from Christian Lacroix and the glamorous supermodels of the '90s.
