I Love Your ShopStyle: Erdem Florals

ShopStylist nia b created an Erdem-centric look that's both Fashion Week savvy and totally wearable after the fact.

ShopStylist nia b created an Erdem-centric look that's both Fashion Week savvy and totally wearable after the fact. The bright floral silk top can be tucked into a black nipped-waist and pleated miniskirt. To keep the attention of the vibrant graphic print, accessorize with classic gold and black accents. A gilded cuff, sweet circle earrings, a compact clutch, and peep-toe pumps will round out this stylish outfit perfectly. Now, it's time to hail a cab and head to Lincoln Center for a day's worth of Fall '12 runway shows.

Sneak Peek — See BCBG's Fall 2012 Beauty Before It Hits The Runway

>> For BCBG this season, it's all about the eyes — and we've got the first look.

>> For BCBG this season, it's all about the eyes — and we've got the first look. We went behind the scenes at the label's Fall 2012 preshow test to get the inside scoop on what we can expect beauty-wise — and otherwise — at this week's show. "Because of the clothing — very fluid, with colorblock, fur, and a bit of '40s — and in order not make everything look retro, we have to keep the look very simple," Maybelline's global makeup artist, Charlotte Willer, who directed this season's concept, explained. "It's about beautiful skin; a soft, dewy look. Then, it's a lightly filled-in eyebrow, a simple smudge of eyeliner on the top eyelid, and a little bit of brown-gray shadow smudged on top of that. Then lip balm, and that's it."

Get a closer look at the BCBG preshow process — and see Willer work her makeup magic — below, in this behind-the-scenes video. Watch closely for cameo appearances by Max and Lubov Azria, the Bumble & Bumble hair team, and as an added bonus, a quick little peek at the Fall 2012 runway shoes.

Organic by John Patrick Runway 2012 Fall

>> "Certain things can make you really happy — a good vanilla cupcake is one. A fun pair of jeans rolled up to the knee is another," John Patrick says. To spread that happiness, the designer has collaborated with Raleigh Denim on some terrific-looking raw jeans — made from recycled and sustainable fabrics, of course — to go along with the season's offering of hand-loomed knits, slouchy leather duffel coats, and wallpaper-floral frocks. Certain things, indeed.

Steven Alan Fall 2012

>> And suddenly, it begins.
Steven Alan Fall 2012

>> And suddenly, it begins. Steven Alan kicks off the Fall 2012 season with a collection of '30s- and '40s-tinged separates in tonal grays, textural wools, and — of course — lots of prints and stripes. Alan also tapped inspiration from Mexican painter Diego Rivera, and so a nice dose of folk was worked into the collection's classic prepster mix: wooden buttons, blanket wools, leather riding belts, and perky little felt fedoras.

Steven Alan Fall 2012

Our New York Fashion Week kickoff began this morning with Steven Alan.
Steven Alan Fall 2012

Our New York Fashion Week kickoff began this morning with Steven Alan. For Fall, the designer showed another batch of covetable casual-cum-cool offerings pairing his signature modern classic style with a bold touch of Mexican and folk influence. Full red skirts were paired with riding jackets and fedora hats and structured striped wool vests with slightly flared pants, and there was even a cute vintage-inspired tweed jumpsuit styled with a button-up blouse and cardigan. For a soft touch, the designer also supplied sweet peplum-embellished floral and striped dresses, plaid shirt dresses, and, for a little shine, black and gold brocade dresses and trousers. Read below for the complete breakdown, then check out the gallery to see the complete collection.

  • Trends: Knee-length skirts, peplums, stripes, plaid.
  • Colors: Gray, red, burgundy, brown, black.
  • Key Piece: We loved the Mexican-inspired blazers and vests.
  • Accessories: Wool fedora hats, oxfords, lace-up ankle boots, skinny belts, cozy tights, ankle-strap sandals.
  • Who Would Wear It: Casual-cool girls like Kirsten Dunst and Alexa Chung.

Channeling an ultra ladylike '20s throwback look, ShopStylist binky creates a modern take on old-school glamour.

Channeling an ultra ladylike '20s throwback look, ShopStylist binky creates a modern take on old-school glamour. Sheer, cream lace, and a drop-waist are three style components we're loving for Spring '12 — try a retro-inspired cocktail dress on for size. Pair metal-tipped Christian Louboutin loafers and a boxy clutch for a structured contrast. For the final touches, add chunky vintage jewelry and a bold red lip. Now, which New York Fashion Week afterparty will you be wearing this chic ensemble to?
