Liven Up Your Neutral Dress With a Printed Coat — Like Emmy Rossum

Emmy Rossum attended the screening of Beautiful Creatures in NYC last night wearing a beautiful navy dress, black strappy Charlotte Olympia sandals, and colorful drop earrings, but it was the geometric-print Nonoo coat she sported on her way inside that really made an impression.

We've been seeing a lot of amazing printed outerwear lately, and Emmy's look reminded us how a single piece of clothing can elevate an entire ensemble. Plus, the actress's satin pick is a seasonal-transition staple, working well from one season to the next. Layer up with sweaters and pants now; dresses and skirts later. Thus, we set out to find equally stunning Spring coats that will add the perfect mix of textural intrigue, color, and dynamic to the rest of your outfit.

Ginnifer and Julianne Sport Shorts Suits — Would You?

You have your mature pantsuit (the ones you're allowed to wear to work or as an alternative to a cocktail dress), then you have the more playful version, the shorts suit.

You have your mature pantsuit (the ones you're allowed to wear to work or as an alternative to a cocktail dress), then you have the more playful version, the shorts suit. This fun bunch gained popularity last Spring when a slew of designers like Jason Wu, Michael Kors, and Tory Burch sent them strutting down the catwalk. Since then, celebrities have borrowed the leg-baring runway trend and brought them to the sidewalk (and red carpet). Among the most recent to rock the look are Ginnifer Goodwin and Julianne Hough, both in Nonoo. Ginnifer's cobalt tuxedo-style shorts suit featured chic white piping, while Julianne's navy suit was brought to life via a jewel-collar blouse and lace-up sandals. It might be too frigid in some places right now to wear a shorts suit sans tights, but it's the perfect Spring companion for both daytime and nighttime fun. Take a good look at these stunning ladies in their shorts suits, then tell us, would you adopt the trend?

New York-based designer Misha Nonoo is simultaneously feeling sporty and romantic for Spring 2013; models wore both crisp white sneakers and Frida Kahlo-style ribbon headpieces. Feeding into the flirty side of the collection were vintage-inspired floral dresses, lace details, and ruffled skirts, while cobalt drawstring trousers, piped short suits, and loose-fitting shorts lent a more relaxed look. Delicate prints and bright colors, as well as bursts of crisp whites, gave the collection an exuberant flair.

Runway to Red Carpet: Sophia Bush's Sequined Suit

Sophia Bush took a break from taking in runway shows to take in a movie, and looked unbelievably stylish while doing it. For the NYC premiere of I Don't Know How She Does It, Sophia wore a gold sequined short suit that was quite literally ripped from the runway — her Nonoo Fabrizia jacket and Bonafina shorts were shown as part of designer Misha Nonoo's NYFW presentation just last Friday. Not only do we admire Sophia's dedication to wearing Spring trends right as they emerge; but we have to give her props for wearing the look as is, plus putting her own spin on it by adding a pair of black pumps and a vintage Chanel pendant necklace. Even when worn separately, the pieces pack a glamorous punch, and will easily dress up any pair of jeans or plain white tee. Though the Nonoo pieces likely won't be available for some time, you can shop similar pieces below to create your own gold sequined look.
