You knew this was coming: Warmer weather calls for white! Also, a crisp white item of clothing works wonders for a hangover — oops, did I just say that? But seriously, whether it's to refresh your day, show off your tan or for the hell of it, white definitely has its place in fashion. Upon revitalizing my closet, I realized I have tons of white blouses — and I wear them all. White dresses, on the other hand, not so many. Penelope is leading the white out in her MNG Mango dress, will you follow?
Trend Alert: Textural Black and White
Black and white has had so many incarnations in the past year. It's definitely evolved and it's still relevant — only today, it's textural black and white. Beading, ruching, sheer fabrics, feathers and all of the above, make for a black and white cocktail perfect for a cocktail party. Madonna knows it, and now you do.

Celebrity Style: Jennifer Lopez
It's been ages since I featured Jennifer Lopez on Celebrity Style. That's probably because she's been in pregnancy hibernation. The stunning singer stepped out for Marchesa's Fall '08 show in a Notte by Marchesa trapeze dress. It's not a pregnancy dress but Jennifer rocks it out despite her full-blown belly. What I love most about her look is how instead of pairing girlie heels with her feminine dress, she opted for something a little rough and tough to create a fashion contradiction. Brilliant!

Trend Alert: Brocade Babe

Not to be confused with granny's boudoir, the items pictured here are for a brocade babe. What's old is new again, and brocade always feels right in the dead of Winter. With a slight sheen and 60's vibe, slip on your patent booties, opaque black tights and costume jewelry for a glitzy night in brocade. Or, mix with dark denim for an upscale casual look. Either way you win.
Trend Alert: Black & Gold
Black & gold. A sophisticated, yet flashy, combination. While many of these strike me as night-time attire, in the words of my mom: "Why wait to wear them?" She's actually referring to bold jewelry but I think this mantra can be applied across the board. Life is too short to reserve those daring fashion items for special occasions. A good place to start is with some black & gold. Be bold, be sophisticated, be flashy!
