Look of the Day: Oy for Ombre!

cosmic flash told herself she wasn't going to participate in this trend but pictures tell otherwise.

cosmic flash told herself she wasn't going to participate in this trend but pictures tell otherwise. She broke down and went oy for ombre! The bow in front adds a different twist to her dress and I love the yellow bag.

Here's what she has on:

  • Dress: Cynthia Steffe
  • Bag: Hayden-Harnett
  • Sandals: Gap

Congrats to cosmic flash!

Look of the Day: Ombre-tastic!

What should Jordybee do?

What should Jordybee do? Should she keep her ombre-tastic skirt or not? Full skirts are on the horizon for Spring so I say keep it. Need more convincing? I have an ombre skirt too!

Here's what she has on:

  • Blouse: Express
  • Skirt: Express
  • Belt: Martin & Osa
  • Shoes: Steven
  • Hair Flower: Target

Congrats to Jordybee!

Nice and New: Tord Boontje's Ombré Midsummer Light

By now, you must have seen Tord Boontje's Midsummer Light, yes?

By now, you must have seen Tord Boontje's Midsummer Light, yes? I think I can safely say that it, along with several of his other designs, was partially responsible for the laser-cut lace trend that's been going on lately. But Boontje isn't just a trend-setter; he follows the trends as well. He's reinvented his ubiquitous pendant in ombré, a recent trend that's been flaunted all over catwalks and kitchens for months now. Regardless, I'm loving this "fading" (as it's called), and hope to see it in more colors. Let's wait and see if Boontje can work any other fads into this pendant. Maybe he'll make his next one out of birch.

Trend Alert: Ombré

If FabSugar's Trend Alert and these gradient tights aren't enough to convince you that ombré is back in full force, then I'll have to let you in on a little secret.

If FabSugar's Trend Alert and these gradient tights aren't enough to convince you that ombré is back in full force, then I'll have to let you in on a little secret. The faded effect isn't just showing up on the runway,; it's having a run on the floor, on the tabletop, and even in bed! Some of this ombrécor is well-executed, like Kenzo's dinnerware, and others make me cringe a little. But it's here to stay for at least a little while, so let's hope for the best. To see some of the ombré home accents I've trend-spotted, click on the images below.

Screen Actors Guild Awards: Angelina Jolie

If Angelina Jolie wanted to elicit more pregnancy rumors, then she selected the perfect dress to do it in.

If Angelina Jolie wanted to elicit more pregnancy rumors, then she selected the perfect dress to do it in. Though I like the sweetheart neckline and the ombre effect of this vintage Hermes gown, the silhouette is way too loose. If it were a bit more tailored I would have loved it. What's your take?

Trend Alert: Ombre

Ombre is beginning to rear its pretty head and while it feels very warm-weathery, I'm already seeking a new ombre addition.

Ombre is beginning to rear its pretty head and while it feels very warm-weathery, I'm already seeking a new ombre addition. I'm still on the fence though — some of these items are dope, while some of them are dull. Here's the dilemma: It's a trendy motif, but only looks good on fine fabrics. Case in point: ombred fur at J. Mendel's Spring '08 show (pictured). Thus, one should seek out an ombre that looks expensive but doesn't break the bank. Ah, the trials and tribulations of fashion . . .

Urban Outfitters Heartbreaker Ombre Racerback: Love It or Hate It?

It looks like ombre is here to stay, gals, because Urban Outfitters has a new rendition: this Urban Outfitters Heartbreaker Ombre Racerback ($28).

It looks like ombre is here to stay, gals, because Urban Outfitters has a new rendition: this Urban Outfitters Heartbreaker Ombre Racerback ($28). It could be good over a black turtleneck for Winter and alone for Spring . . . are you game?

Twighlight Blues Ombre Cardigan: Love It or Hate It?

Ombre can be pretty, and ombre can be tacky.

Ombre can be pretty, and ombre can be tacky. On this Twighlight Blues Ombre Cardigan ($62), it doesn't quite work like it did in Alberta Ferretti's Fall 2007 collection. It looks unfinished and kind of random on a cardigan. I don't mind the colors though. Do you agree?
