You love the way they dress, so it stands to reason that you'd want to wear their clothes. While Solange Knowles, Taylor Swift, and Kate Moss aren't actually set to loan you their red carpet gear, they've been more than happy to collaborate on the sort of designs that fit their aesthetic with the retailers they love.
From Solange's just-announced new venture to Chloë Sevigny's ultrapopular Opening Ceremony lines (which continue to show at Fashion Week!) to Lindsay Lohan's infamous onetime turn as Ungaro designer and Rosamund Pike's LK Bennett bags, check out the fashionable stars who've tried their hand at designing.
Who said you have to be on a team to join the varsity crew? Show off your inner tomboy this Fall in sporty jackets from brands like Opening Ceremony, Karl Lagerfeld, and Smythe for a look that's decidedly chic yet cunning. Counter these athletic cuts with ladylike midi skirts and ankle boots for a sweet yet casual feel, or keep the mood informal in a slouchy sweater and wedge sneakers. From letterman jackets to shearling baseball coats, check out these cool cover-ups.
Nobody dictates "cool" like Opening Ceremony, and in the label's inaugural runway show, it definitely proved that to be the case. By this standard, Spring 2014 promises to be the season of sporty racing stripes, boxy silhouettes, mixed prints, and neon color combos. Both the men's and women's collections, which were presented among carefully staged race cars, are the sort we expect to see donned in the coming months by certifiably cool front-row attendees Rashida Jones and Jason Schwartzman.
Whoever told Opening Ceremony's founders Carol Lim and Humberto Leon to "go big or go home" clearly had an impact. For their New York Fashion Week debut, the brand's founders aren't just staging a simple runway show. They're taking over a pier on the west side of Manhattan for the entire week.
The southern end of Pier 57, which some call the Super Pier, will play host to a variety of shops all housed in shipping containers. It'll also be the location of the retailer's first men's and women's runway show, which is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 8, at 8 p.m. The pop-up market, which is being advertised as Opening Ceremony BTW (the initials stand for "by the water," by the way), is open from Sept. 5 to Sept. 12 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Click through for everything we know so far about the shopping, the food (there might be Cronuts!), and the other fun events Opening Ceremony has in store for Fashion Week.
