First Look: Chloe Sevigny Debuts Third Collection for Opening Ceremony

>> This Winter brings Chloe Sevigny's third collection to Opening Ceremony.

>> This Winter brings Chloe Sevigny's third collection to Opening Ceremony. The concept? Five dresses — a baby doll, a puff-sleeved minidress, an empire-waisted shift, a Peter Pan-collared frock, and a boxy dress — in five different prints — leopard, polka dot, paisley, houndstooth, and floral.

"I was just thinking about my closet and how I buy the same thing over and over again. I will buy one dress and want to have it made with different fabrics, so I thought why not try different silhouettes with different patterns, so people can choose a silhouette and have it in a variety of prints," Sevigny explained, adding: “These are prints that I always come back to.”

There are also leather shorts, jeans, T-shirts done with the Robert Mapplethorpe Foundation, square-toed boots reissued by NaNa Shoes ("I wore those combat boots growing up," Sevigny said), sunglasses by Barton Perreira, and tights printed by Fogal to match the dresses.

More images of the collection can be seen here.

In her third season working with Opening Ceremony, Chloë Sevigny's design concept was focused on five dresses with five different prints. “These are prints that I always come back to,” said Sevigny. “It’s kind of a selfish collection, really.” The five looks—from Empire-waist shifts to baby doll dresses—are done in leopard, polka dot, paisley, houndstooth, or floral prints. In a series of mini collaborations within the Opening Ceremony collection, Sevigny also created t-shirts with the Robert Mapplethorpe Foundation, boots with NaNa Shoes, sunglasses by Barton Perriera, and printed tights with Fogal.

Fashion folk flocked to St. Tropez yesterday to fete Karl Lagerfeld's short film, Remember Now. Of course, Diane and Josh were in attendance, Diane looking polished in her black and white Chanel Spring '10 look. Her black cutout tank, white circle skirt, black ruffle sandals, and straw fedora are all chic, but it's her basket purse that steals the spotlight, adding the perfect quirky touch.

Trend Alert: Mortal Combat

Props to Nicky Hilton for thinking outside the umbrella.

Props to Nicky Hilton for thinking outside the umbrella. Instead of wearing the per-usual pair of galoshes during the wet season, the cutie donned funky mortal combat boots. Such footwear is ideal in slippery conditions and looks amazing with simple leggings or skinny jeans. I love how she completed her look with a tweed boyfriend blazer and oversize Ray-Ban sunnies. The best part? Come Summer, you can wear these tough boots with flirty floral frocks or cut-off shorts. Ready to kick some fashion ass?

Trend Alert: Desert Boots

Sarah Jessica Parker's mid-Winter look is so inspiring.

Sarah Jessica Parker's mid-Winter look is so inspiring. While running errands in NYC, the new president of Halston donned an on-trend cozy sweater coat with white jeans, and her favorite Diane de Maria Bonnie bag. However, it was her desert boots that caught my attention. This mens-inspired boot is tougher than its oxford sister and adds a simultaneously rugged yet slick component to any outfit. Try it with jeans in the Winter like SJP, and with flirty floral frocks in the Summer.

In anticipation of the men's market hitting Paris tomorrow, the Opening Ceremony blog just posted their fall 2010 men's collection (a selection of which can be found in the gallery below). Arriving in stores early next fall, the lineup "takes inspiration from the style and culture of modern France" with classic Breton stripes and a nod to traditional French navy uniforms, but we can't help but see a little New England ice fisherman in there somewhere, too. Must be all those flannel sweatpants paired with wooly cardigans and skullcaps.
