The sunnier seasons herald in a much more relaxed approach to dressing. For most, that means shedding the layers, and keeping it basic. For others — we count repeat performer Diane Kruger among them — it means breaking out the crop top. Last year, we saw the resurgence of bare midriffs in a noticeable way, and now it's becoming the go-to trend for Hollywood's A-list.
And thanks to Dolce & Gabbana, Prabal Gurung, Calvin Klein, and Marc Jacobs, the latest set of crop top-wearing stars aren't limiting the silhouette to the usual sculpted bralette style. Instead, Kruger chose a sportier version, Doutzen Kroes went with stripes and long sleeves, and Julia Restoin Roitfeld's breezy white iteration reminded us of a sexy slip dress. Since it's only mid-May and Summer hasn't even officially started, we're wondering: Will you be taking the crop-top look for a spin this season?
Vogue and MAC cosmetics hosted a dinner in Prabal Gurung's honor last night at LA's Chateau Marmont, and stylers like Diane Kruger, Zoe Saldana, and Jaime King naturally delivered their best for the affair. Diane showed some serious midriff, while mom-to-be Jaime slipped into a military-inspired look from Gurung's Fall 2013 line. Get the full scoop in today's Fashion Flash. Diane Kruger, Zoe Saldana, and more starlets hit the Chateau Marmont in LA last night for a special dinner party held in honor of designer Prabal Gurung. Along with Vogue magazine and MAC Cosmetics, Prabal invited a group of famous friends to celebrate his designs. Diane Kruger bared her stomach alongside boyfriend Joshua Jackson, while Ginnifer Goodwin had her boyfriend, Josh Dallas, and their Once Upon a Time costar Jennifer Morrison for company. Prabal circulated around the event with the "wonderful as ever" Hailee Steinfeld and Star Trek Into Darkness costars Alice Eve and Zachary Quinto. Allure cover girl Zoe Saldana made a stylist appearance alongside Amber Valletta and Jaime King. Rachel Zoe, meanwhile, brought husband Rodger Berman and later tweeted that they had "such a special evening!"
Emma Watson embraced the night's call for an edgier aesthetic in a cutout black silk-crepe Prabal Gurung look that showcased more than a hint of skin. She added a pair of T-strap pumps, then furthered the punky appeal with a mismatched set of earrings, including a diamond and black enamel dart pendant earring by Fred Leighton. Now, it's time to cast your vote: did you love Emma's sexier Met Gala style?
