Gossip Style: Serena van der Woodsen

Serena van der Woodsen mixed patterns like a pro in episode 18 of Gossip Girl.

Serena van der Woodsen mixed patterns like a pro in episode 18 of Gossip Girl. She rocked a patchwork Ralph Lauren coat, a Missoni cardigan, and Hue tights, while toting an embossed Louis Vuitton satchel. We added a suede mini and green booties to finish off her shopping style. Serena's exact LV bag isn't available online, but shop here for the same satchel in a darker hue.

Will Kate Moss Be in Louis Vuitton's Fall 2011 Ad Campaign? Plus, More Casting Rumors

>> The latest Fall 2011 campaign scuttlebutt: Isabeli Fontana is taking the early lead, with campaigns for Escada and Donna Karan booked, and a rumored appearance for Bottega Veneta as well.

>> The latest Fall 2011 campaign scuttlebutt: Isabeli Fontana is taking the early lead, with campaigns for Escada and Donna Karan booked, and a rumored appearance for Bottega Veneta as well. Karan's campaign, which was captured by Patrick Demarchelier the past three seasons, was snapped by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin for Fall 2011.

Meanwhile, Steven Meisel shot (and Karl Templer styled) the Fall 2011 Louis Vuitton campaign in New York yesterday — but there will reportedly be no Kate Moss appearance as there was on the runway. In fact, no supermodels will be featured at all: Instead, the six models chosen are said to be from the current generation — "Top 50-ish, a bit new. Nothing from the Icon list." Daphne Groeneveld and Fei Fei Sun are rumored to be among them.

Kate Moss has reportedly been cast for another Fall 2011 campaign for Mango; however, it will be shot by Terry Richardson and is todaymaking lots of appearances on his blog.

Versace, like Donna Karan, is also switching up photographers — after going with Mario Testino for the past eight seasons, Donatella Versace has chosen Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott to do the Fall 2011 honors (with styling by Joe McKenna). Originally, the Versace campaign, like Vuitton, was reportedly supposed to feature six models, including Candice Swanepoel and Groeneveld, but the photographers are rumored to have settled instead on one girl with "short dark hair" who is a "cover star." Some are thinking that might indicate Saskia de Brauw as Versace's new girl.

To round out the Fall 2011 campaign placements so far, Juergen Teller shot Irina Kulikova yesterday for Moschino at Turin's Ristorante del Cambio, Ralph Lauren has reportedly cast its runway opener Sui He, and Liu Wen is rumored to be in the upcoming Dolce & Gabbana campaign.

Ralph Lauren Solar Backpack: Love It or Leave It?

The Internet is all aflutter over Ralph Lauren's new RLX Solar Panel Backpack ($795).

The Internet is all aflutter over Ralph Lauren's new RLX Solar Panel Backpack ($795). I've seen this baby grace a number of websites over the weekend, and all seem to have the same sentiment: it's an overpriced yet stylish way to charge your gadgets on the go.

While I wouldn't necessarily describe this backpack as "stylish" (it looks like a laser-tag vest!), I suppose if you were a dude with a lot of gear (obviously, it's a men's bag), it would be a nice accessory. What do you think about this bag ladies and gents — love it or leave it?

Ralph Lauren and Lancôme Get Hand-Painted in Mexico

Here's a small perfume store I spotted in Valladolid, a colonial city in Mexico's Yucatán peninsula. Though it wasn't open during my visit, I still loved looking at the painting details on the outside. The depictions of Lancôme Trésor, Ralph by Ralph Lauren, and Paco Rabanne are pretty spot-on. If you're looking for even more south-of-the-States beauty spots, check out these salons and barber shops in Belize.

Ralph Lauren Runway Fall 2011 New York Fashion Week

For Fall 2011, Ralph Lauren brought in a little East to mix in with his signature Western sartorial spirit. Kimono-style dresses, Chinoiserie smoking jackets, and embroidered wraps and coats were all accented by jade and crimson jewelry, and the slick red, green, and jet black palette underscored the Far East theme. Yet, that wasn’t the only inspiration; Paris (perhaps by way of Shanghai) slipped in via an Art Deco-esque dress and felted cloche combo, and with a sexy pin-striped suit topped off with an opulent fur stole. To see all the playfully seductive ensembles, watch our runway coverage now!

2011 Fall New York Fashion Week: Ralph Lauren

Fall 2011 New York Fashion Week: Ralph Lauren 2011-02-17 14:27:57

Inspired by the smoky mystery of the Far East, Ralph Lauren gave us a little Shanghai surprise this morning. With a soft version of David Bowie's "China Girl" playing in the background, models emerged in mostly black, often lustrous ensembles accessorized with jade earrings and red lacquered heels. The silhouettes remained classic — halter dresses, tuxedos, shawl coats — but he achieved a dramatic, sexy mood via rich satiny fabrics and sparkling details. There was ornate beading on dresses, including a black dress that shone from being covered entirely in black beads, wrap dresses done in a luxurious garnet-hued panné velvet, and a double-breasted suit in shantung silk that inspired visions of Marlene Dietrich in Shanghai Express. Ralph had his menswear moment as well, showing pinstripe trousers with a jade green silk top and sharply tailored tuxedos. It may not be a vision of the China that exists today, but it was one fun, romantic trip east on the Ralph train. For the full runway video, visit FabSugarTV.
