Raquel Zimmermann in W Magazine 2010 February Editorial

For its February issue, W magazine and photog Mario Sorrenti took us to sunny Marfa, TX, for an editorial dubbed "Field of Dreams." The badass blonde in focus is none other than Raquel Zimmermann. Here she is wearing desert-hued knits, toffee-tinted leather shorts, fringe skirts, hot shorts, and a ton of modern white from the likes of Yves Saint Laurent, MaxMara, and Fendi. These elements, mixed in with the startling blue skies and honey-coated grass make for the ultimate urban setting. Modern makeup, bold jewels, and an amazing pair of woven peep-toe boots temper the serene surrounding. Mix that in with Raquel's stealth stature and electric blue eyes, and you have a white-hot paradise.

Fab Ad: Alexander McQueen, Spring '10

If you look closely, model Raquel Zimmermann is in there.

If you look closely, model Raquel Zimmermann is in there. After witnessing McQueen's future primitive Spring show, it's no surprise the ad campaign elicits a few "wows." Shot by Nick Knight — who also filmed McQueen's webcast runway show — ophidiophobics beware. The slithery, slidey pool of snakes gives way to McQueen's sadistic shoes. Underneath it all: a reptilian, rainbow print bodysuit. Genius or gross?

>> Raquel Zimmermann, 30 Snakes the Faces of Alexander McQueen Spring 2010 —As the New York Times noted yesterday, a number of Spring 2010 ads feature models lying down on the job — among them, Georgia May Jagger for Versace, Monika "Jac" Jagaciak for Calvin Klein, Lara Stone for Louis Vuitton.  Well, add one more to the mix: Nick Knight shot Raquel Zimmermann wrapped in more than 30 snakes for Alexander McQueen's Spring 2010 campaign — and you guessed it: she's lying down.

2010 Vogue Paris Calendar Is Out, All Flashing Lights and Trio of Top Models

>> Vogue Paris's December/January 2010 issue just popped up, and Laetitia Casta is this year's anointed guest editor — in addition being featured on the cover and in an editorial, as photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, she has two further editorials inside by Cedric Buchet and Alasdair McLellan.  But the real attraction is the magazine's annual calendar, which comes as a supplement.

Mario Sorrenti did the honors this time around at the Lido in Paris, and instead of 14 girls going pinup like last year, only three made the cut: Iselin Steiro on the cover, plus Natasha Poly and Raquel Zimmermann who join her inside.

The Fab Faces of Spring '10

With Spring ready-to-wear in the bag, designers are conjuring up their Spring ad campaigns, placing the hottest of the hot with the most stylish shutterbugs.

With Spring ready-to-wear in the bag, designers are conjuring up their Spring ad campaigns, placing the hottest of the hot with the most stylish shutterbugs. Thus far, we know Lara Stone will star in Louis Vuitton's ads, while Daisy Lowe will shine for its swimwear line. In Versace land, Donatella has chosen Fabcon Georgia May Jagger to be photographed by Mario Testino. On the celebrity front, Madonna was snatched up by Dolce & Gabbana — we're hoping she won't look as photoshopped as her previous Louis Vuitton ads.

Alexander McQueen Shows Holographic Alien Beauties for Spring 2010

>> Raquel Zimmermann, who has been missing from the runways all season, finally made an appearance at Alexander McQueen — projected on a screen behind the runway, topless, with a snake writhing around her; she later morphed into an arm-waving sea creature.

>> Raquel Zimmermann, who has been missing from the runways all season, finally made an appearance at Alexander McQueen — projected on a screen behind the runway, topless, with a snake writhing around her; she later morphed into an arm-waving sea creature. Two cameras, each mounted on a robotic arm that glided back and forth on the runway, moved over the audience, replacing the video of Raquel on the screen and signaling the start of the show, titled "Plato's Atlantis."

Stiffly sculptural minidresses started out in mirrored snakeprints, moving into owl and insect territory, and finally the aquatic.  Hair, which began in cornrows with crimped tufts, ended in two gravity-defying horns, and the hologram catwalk operated on motion-control technology. Some of the white-faced models had prosthetics around their eyes, giving them alien-like bone structure, which took three hours to apply.  And if the Fall 2009 Nina Ricci shoes needed an editorial replacement, McQueen has it for Spring 2010 — hoof-like platform booties that Imogen Morris-Clarke says were ten inches high.

The collection, embellished and couture-like as it was, will be reinterpreted to be more wearable for retail, but if the livestream — which couldn't handle all the people who tried to tune in — is any indication (full video can now be seen here), people do love their McQueen spectacles.

>> Models Missing from the New York Runways: An Update —With only one more day of New York Fashion Week to go, a number of top models still haven't set foot on a catwalk.  Anja Rubik finally appeared at Michael Kors this morning — so did Carmen Kass and Jacquetta Wheeler — but Catherine McNeil — who is supposedly booked all through the New York shows on another job — Toni Garrn, Lara Stone, Anna Maria Jagodzinska, Sigrid Agren — who's rumored not to be doing any shows this season — Tanya Dziahileva, Raquel Zimmermann, and Georgina Stojiljkovic are all totally MIA.  In other modeling news, Jessica Stam joined the increasingly large number of models bleaching their hair — she debuted the new hue today at Anna Sui.

Missing from the New York Runways: Where are Raquel Zimmermann, Anja Rubik, and Lara Stone?

>> Official day three of New York Fashion Week is over, and still no sign on the runway of usual heavyweights Raquel Zimmermann, Anja Rubik, and Lara Stone — even at shows where they're most likely to be in, like Rag & Bone or Alexander Wang.

>> Official day three of New York Fashion Week is over, and still no sign on the runway of usual heavyweights Raquel Zimmermann, Anja Rubik, and Lara Stone — even at shows where they're most likely to be in, like Rag & Bone or Alexander Wang. It seems that Raquel may not be walking in New York — her agency DNA didn't publish a showcard for her, but she's definitely in town — she was all over the place Sept. 10 for Fashion's Night Out.

Lara and Anja, meanwhile, both attended Fashion's Night Out at Burberry in London, not New York.  They do, however, each have a showcard for New York, so maybe they're being saved for later on in the week?  If they're coming back stateside, that is . . .
